Well I didn't wear a dress today - isn't compatible with my day's activities. So I have to leave it up to you ladies to carry the "dress torch" today - BRING IT ON!!!

My day starts early, so now I'm half way through already:)

Today's outfit with my black wrap dress is layered with a turtleneck in burgundy. I've paired this with brown booties and wool tights to avoid a too stark and dark impression. I've also kept my specs on to pick up a little of the brown. A small detail is the tiny brooch inherited from my Grandma and a gold watch. Red coat, polka dot scarf, brown hand warmers and brown messenger bag. I've worn this for meetings and office today, and it is very comfortable. I do feel that something is missing, though. Do you think it works?

I like your wrap dress and red coat, Ingunn! I'm blue today - so to speak. This is an Eliza J dress I've had for a couple of years and due to the snow I'm wearing boots and I thought a red handbag would be a nod to the blue and red trend I'm seeing everywhere for spring.

Ingunn - I don't think anything is missing at all. This may be a little more minimal than you normally wear? Love how your tights and boots aren't black and the brooch is a lovely touch.

Laura - love the bright colour of your dress and how because it is quite a classic cut, looks very current even though you mention it's a couple of years old. And I love blue and red together so of course, think this is fab!

Rachy, they do look wolly up close! But not that much. I buy them at the grocery store, and they are a blend of wool and synthetics.

Everyone is looking so fantastic! Suz, you and I are fuchsia twins today! (High five!) I added my fuchsia scarf as part of the scarf challenge, but it seemed to complete the look so perfectly that I never took it off. Even though it doesn't show, I've got textured tights on that somewhat repeat the pattern of the dress.

This dress challenge has been great. For me, it has really motivated me to try on my dresses again. I've been working hard at losing the last of the baby weight and now so many of my dresses don't work at all that I'm down to just a few. Trying on all my dresses again has really made me clean up my closet! Yeah for closet clean outs!

Here's my skirt contribution for today. Wore it to check out the open house tour for the high school classes at my kids' school. I can't believe my eldest will be in 9th grade this fall!!

Ok. I have done it and worn a dress again this week An old Marc Jacobs. I was wondering if I should get rid of it. It's a babydoll shape, which is kinda juvenile. A belt would give waist definition, but the dress looks junky/busy with a belt because of the layered hem. I'm thinking it isn't half-bad, though, with the trusty sweater that hits at my waist.

But then again, maybe I'm wrong.

Late to the party, but I had to survived a snowy commute home before I could post!

This is an old ponte sheath with an odd cowl collar, a high-banded waist with an inverted pleat. I think I'd like to replace it with a BR sheath like Shannon's. I paired it with my New Caslon denim shirt (I've rolled up the cuffs because the cuffs are big, even for my wrists), and a new scarf. I was planning on wearing the shirt and scarf with my red jeans before the dress challenge.

The shoes are stitched Mary Jane's that are just an inch from being purged. I like my oxfords far better, but these look like stage character shoes and fit the romantic end of my style. (PS. it's my lens, not the shoes, that's dirty).

Everyone looks great! Here's mine for today.
All old pieces, but I don't think I've combined this tweed jacket (Caslon) with this dress (Suzi Chinn) but when I pulled out the dress today the jacket caught my eye as having same colors, but some fun texture. I wore grey tights, metallic belt (gunmetal faux ray) and grey patent booties (Anne Klein) for a little funk. I'm not sure there isn't too much gap to wear these with dresses, but I did it anyway.
This challenge has renewed my love for dresses and reminded me I have a bag full of them in my trunk for the dry cleaners.

Ingunn, I think the turtleneck layering works nicely! Adding a necklace to fill in some of the extra space that's red could make that gap look less gappy, but I don't think it's a necessity.

Here is my entry for today! This sleeveless dress was one of my favorite purchases last summer, made of thick jersey and lightly lined in the torso. Initially I wanted to layer a sweater over the top, but wasn't pleased with how any of them looked (too heavy, too long, weird neckline, etc.). I wanted to keep the fabrications similar in weight, so I thought I'd give this rather-stiff blouse a try over the top. The proportions are kind of odd but I feel like it works? I do quite like the little triangle of stripes from the split hemline. Black suede tall boots (and black ribbed sweater tights) to keep the look grounded as wintery, and a pop of neon because I didn't like how the neckline looked on its own I'm not sure I would wear this dress again in the winter, but I'm happy to realize that it could easily be brought out in early spring with some clever layering.

Wow! I'm getting so much inspiration from everyone's photos! Ingunn, we are black and red twins today MaryK, I love the retro 70's look! Suz, K, Diana, Laura, Aida, I always love how you use color in your outfits. Lynn, Rachylou, and Jjslone, such pretty dresses! AJ and Bethann, I love your shoes! And Joy, that bomber jacket is fabulous!

As for my outfit...I have worn this sweater dress before, but not with my red booties or my red fleece lined tights (I have worn it with burgundy or black tights). I wore a skinny black belt - I would have worn a red belt, but my red belt is the wrong shade, way too bright. Since I didn't have the right shade red belt, I wore a red, white, and black glass pendant, and I wore my black glasses with red sides (I'm holding them in the second photo).

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed, and PJ's worn backwards tonight, in hopes for a snow day tomorrow!
