Well... I goofed. Before I left for Toronto I ordered a midi dress to try that I'd seen on ASOS since I got a good deal on it - I figured I'd return it if it didn't work out.

It arrived at my home the day before I left for Toronto, and I tried it on, but I didn't love it as much as the animal print chiffon midi I'd already got - plus I'd come home from Toronto with the pretty knit midi Celia helped me pick up. So I meant to return this, but didn't get to it right away.
Unfortunately, it also slipped my mind that ASOS has a much shorter return window than most stores - 14 days from delivery rather than 30. Which I've already missed, by a lot. So returning it to ASOS isn't an option. Lesson learned: check the fine print as soon as it arrives!

Here's the skinny. It is sheer chiffon, black, with a screen-printed colorful pattern and gold embroidery. It looks lovely next to my mustard handbag, actually.
I have to wear a thick slip under it, but that's fine, and I'd probably only wear it with either opaque, semi-opaque, or patterned black hose. Maybe a thin, black long sleeved tee as well if it gets really chilly.

The skirt is very full (and twirly!) and there's a wide gathered/elasticized waistband, kind of like my Eliza J chiffon midi. The sleeves are long and are also gathered & elasticized. The neckline is a medium length V (actually my favorite neckline height right now) with a small collar, and there is a keyhole detail at the back neckline which I didn't manage to photograph.

The fit is actually very good. The quality of the dress is okay - I mean, the construction seems fine - but I'm not thrilled with the way that the shiny embroidery is put in, as you can kind of see the back threads through the dress since it's so sheer. Up close (see photo #3) I think that makes it look messy, and that's the main reason I was going to return it. But it's not awful looking, and I don't find it scratchy.

(I do kind of wish that I'd ordered this dress before Halloween, because it would have been wicked cool with my purple, green, and yellow sparkly Mardi Gras mask! Perhaps I'll wear this dress to work on Fat Tuesday this year...)

Keeping in mind that since I messed up and am stuck with the dress anyway, what do we think? Is it worth wearing or should I try to see if I can re-sell it for something, just so it's not a total waste of money, on ebay or something? (Which I've never done... so I don't know that anyone would buy from me anyway since I have zero feedback as a seller.) Or maybe a consignment store... though I've no experience with that either.

Can this dress be saved?

(EDITED TO ADD: Also, for basis of comparison, here's how the Eliza J chiffon midi fits: http://youlookfab.com/upload/i....._image.jpg)
