Does anyone own Tieks?

I'm curious as to whether they are really all that... I hadn't heard of them till Natalie posted and I'm not big on ballet shoes but they sound really comfortable.

It's free shipping and free returns so you can try them on and see. They don't come in half sizes so you should order a size up and down if you are between sizes. I'm on another style board and they are crazy for Tieks there, lots of people with multiple colors and they rave about the comfort. I ordered some in red patent in two sizes but returned them because I felt like the patent leather was not as comfortable around the rim of the shoe (supposedly the regular leather is softer). So not sure if the oil slick Tieks will be stiff or not. I love that color and would be tempted to get them if I weren't on a shopping freeze right now.

I'm not big on ballet shoes either. I purchased for a wedding to keep in my bag, for the end of the night. They are perfect for that. Cushy and heavenly after heels. Not a lot of arch support.

I don't like to walk in shoes where the soles are smaller than the shoe. I feel the edge. That bothered me doing ballet itself, truth be told.

I've had the black Tieks for three years and they're going strong. They lack arch support, but the rubber sole is comfortable for long periods of walking, and they don't slip in rainy weather.

I find them to be very comfortable. I tried a lot of ballet flats over the years but Tieks have easily been the most comfortable for me. That split sole is a game changer for me and has definitely made it so I can wear them all day without my feet being in pain. Definitely worth a try with the free shipping and returns!

Thanks! My issue is that the ones I want are so EXPENSIVE! Blah. arch support is not a big issue for me, but I don't like ballet flats that fit like those nylon "footies' and just "outline" my fat wide foot, if that makes sense.

For those of you who have them, my ankle slips out if shoes aren't ankle strap, mary jane, tie, etc.
What do you think is the possibility that they will stay on?

You want the "Arabian Nights", don't you? I have no experience with Tieks, but how in the world can a pair of ballet flats with a rubber sole cost $345?

I have a new silver crackle pair. They stay on because they are elasticised all around without being overly binding. Mine feel a bit snug in the toes still, but I am hoping they stretch out. I have been wearing them for short time increments. The leather is thick and substantial and I haven't had any issue with the soles. If you see them you can understand why they are priced in the $300 range. They are well made.

Ugh, I've been considering Tieks for months and have just never pulled the trigger. I probably won't until fall. And while I'd love, love, LOVE the Arabian nights, I will probably get the matte black. Everything I've read about them is positive. They are expensive for ballet flats, and I have the same issue as Una ("outlining wide feet" is a great way to describe it), but I still want to try them.

Una, if you get a pair, please post pics of you wearing them. It is likely that the way they fit you will be similar to the way they would fit me. If they don't work for you, I can probably bury my Tieks dreams.

Carter, I know! It seems outrageous. I have paid close to that for boots but there's so much more to boots! Not sure I can stomach it. ETA: This is just my personal budget... Not a general opinion!

Echo, I'm glad you understand what I meant - it feels like I've stepped into little canoes! I know ballet shoes are supposed to make you feel graceful, but I mostly just feel like I have little piggy hooves because of my stumpy feet. Sigh.

I have a pair in black, and find them quite comfortable for the most part. The rubber sole is fantastic, very comfy for walking. The pressure of the elasticized edge on my big toe joint does start to irritate me by the end of the day, but it's pretty minor, and I can just shift my foot to relieve the pressure. And it has to be said, I have NO tolerance for tightness. Of anything. They are great for travel -- just took them on a six-day trip and they were one of only two pairs of shoes I brought. (My husband was shocked that I could function with so few pairs of shoes, lol.)

I'd like a second pair but am dithering between the pewter and the silver. Can't decide which would be most versatile.

Thanks, RWS - I appreciate it! I don't want to seem like I'm appalled that people would pay for these - I'm not, of course. But is it for the status like Valentinos (way more, of course) or are they really as comfortable as everyone says? Sounds like they are pretty great and durable.

Pewter or silver? A tough call!

I have been thinking about Tieks for YEARS now. I generally wear through a pair or two of ballet flats a year, so if they're as durable as people seem to think, the price would be worth it for me. I might finally go for it next time I need a pair, as part of my "less but better" strategy.
