Do you wear silver or gold or both?

I feel like I can wear both, though some articles of clothing go better with gold and some better with silver. For example navy goes better with silver and burgundy with gold. Silver looks clearer on my skin and stands out more but golden hues of make up look better on me. I think I'm really close to being neutral. Should I own both gold and silver pieces of jewellery and accessories or just stick with one? What do you do? I only have about 3 pieces right now (other than the rings I wear all day every day) because I always bought costume jewellery rather than fine. I'm ready to start buying solid gold pieces going forward rather than buying more costume jewellery that often breaks easily.

I wear both, but lean towards silver these days because I’m still enjoying the hipster look

Both, but I lean towards gold given my warm skin undertone. I do wear and love my silver pieces because many of them were gifts from my husband.

Though I've never thought about coordinating gold or silver jewelry with specific clothing colors. Interesting to think about it that way!

Maybe 'cause I'm more of a minimalist with my daily jewelry - engagement and wedding ring (gold), diamond ear studs (or small gold hoops). A gold heart necklace worn as a personal item, not "fashion" jewelry.

I do have a collection of chunky silver/turquoise rings and a couple of bracelets by an artist from Arizona - I guess those are my "statement" pieces.

In my twenties I tended to buy lots of Vivienne Westwood jewellery which was expensive but yeah none of it lasted any length of time. I have one piece bought by my husband left. I also have a set of interlocked bangles my mum bought herself years ago and never used. It was from a jewellery store and I've always liked them. My grandmother died last year and my aunt has kept her gold sovereign chain for me. It was special to my gran so that's something I will treasure and pass down. I haven't been back home so i don't have it in my possession yet. I don't have any earrings, so would like to buy some sapphire studs set in white gold first.

I think i'm going to have to have sets of both gold and silver. I tend to be minimal but there isn't a way round it I suppose!

I actually like brass best, but it's hard to find. I think I'll always have a collection in many metals because I keep my better jewelery for a long time, and I love to get artisan made earrings as souvenirs from travel.

I switched to wearing gold jewelry almost entirely. I still have some silver but keep it mostly for sentimental reasons. Most of my gold jewelry is yellow, minimal in design but my wedding rings set and a pearl ring are white gold. I have one pair of white and yellow gold earrings that I wear when I want to mix colors. I don’t see a reason why silver or white gold can’t be mixed with yellow gold or be worn separately depending on an outfit or mood.

I wear both. Like CS, I also love brass. I only have a quartet of pieces, but all were made by different artisans. I have enjoyed wearing my chunky brass bracelet so much, that my husband asked the artist to make it in silver for me for a Christmas gift. Love it in silver too.

I commonly wear yellow gold, as I prefer it against my skin. However, my watch is stainless and a lot of the hardware on my jackets is silver/stainless. Most of the time, unless there's an obvious clash, I happily mix metals.

Mostly silver - makes my pale skin brighter. When I do wear gold I like to mix it with some silver pieces or wear wrap bracelets that have both metals. I don't match metals to certain colors in my wardrobe - it's a bit intuitive and depends on my mood ( and if my hair is colored at that moment ).

I mix metals a lot, my wedding band is rose gold and the rest of my jewelry is white gold. I have few sentimental pieces in silver.

You may want to consider a pair of pearl earrings, they can be inexpensive but work well in any situation.

I wear both, mainly because my colouring has cooled as my hair went grey. I still think my skin colour is warm though and always preferred gold in the past. As my rings are gold a mixed metal watch has been very helpful if I want to wear other silver jewellery.

Mostly good but I do wear silver too. If I wear silver I still have two yellow gold rings on do I mix.

I actually love gold on navy - but I like silver too. I ( inspired by Roxanna) realised that I really like warm and cool together - rust and light grey, navy and mustard being combinations I often wear.

I wear copper most, cause it's close to my skin color, but also gold. I have a couple sentimental silver pieces but I don't wear them. Pewter could be ok, or a textured metal- but bright silver is just too much contrast on me. I don't like to mix metals unless it's in 1 piece with multiple metals.
That said, my jewelry is going mostly unworn these days.

By my mood. Similar to you N, gold tends to be less contrast to my skin, but silver really pops and works especially well with my hair. Generally I don't wear a lot of jewelry, but lately I have been wearing my silver pieces more and enjoying the effect.

I dislike when a handbag has bright gold hardware, you can't tell from retailer photos, and the description doesn't say. I'm a matcher when it comes to metals.

Both and mix them. My wedding ring and watch are gold but I have a ring that was my sister's and a small necklace that I always wear that are both. I'm with you about certain colors - if I am wearing a larger necklace the metal depends on the colors of the outfit.

I have been on team gold and continue to do so, but I have recently acquired a pearl bracelet that has a silver clasp and may get tempted to become on team mixed metal.

I wear both, with a slight preference for silver these days. But my most sentimental pieces are gold, so I’d never stop wearing them. Sometimes I wear a bridge piece with both metals in it to tie everything together, especially since my wedding rings are gold.

Silver jewellery is definitely what suits my colouring and my style best. I wear some silver jewellery (rings in particular) practically every day.

However, I also have some gold jewellery that I have inherited or received as gifts. I treasure it and want to wear it sometimes. When wearing gold (mainly in spring and fall), I make sure to combine it with my best clothing colours.

Mixed metals often look gorgeous. I would happily wear items with most silver in the mix.

I guess I have a *slight* lean towards silver, but that might simply reflect that I have moved from preferring cool toned metals to embracing both cool and warm metals over the past several years.

I think my own personal coloring is not neutral but rather mixed: cool toned skin and eyes, but warm hair. So either option harmonizes with something.

It does make it harder to keep a very minimal jewelry wardrobe though!

I agree with you on gold or silver with color of clothing. I prefer gold with it is on my skin, like necklace. but if a necklace is on a top instead of skin, I go with what gows with the color of the top.

I've always worn silver and have never been attracted to the look of gold. Nothing to do with how well it goes with my complexion, just a deep-seated aesthetic preference. I've passed by a lot of otherwise great coats and bags because of gold hardware; I actually wish I could train my eye to be a little more flexible on this! My 7yo son, on the other hand, is obsessed with gold and has always loved the way it looks. I do like the look of mixed metals, such as oxidized silver with a bit of gold leaf, but haven't actually added any mixed metal pieces as I'm not much of a jewelry buyer.

I wear silver and gold jewellery, and I wear them together. I have some mixed metal pieces. I also have some rose gold and yellow gold pieces. I don't think much about the colour of the metal when I am putting my outfit together. I wear a lot of amber, which is warm but often set in silver. It looks fine with gold to my eye.
My wedding rings are gold. My skin tone is warm and looks better with gold. I like interesting artisan jewellery, and that is often made from silver. So I mix them all.
