100% on Team Silver! My jewelry is all silver, with the exception of my wedding band, which is platinum. I won't buy clothes or accessories with any visible gold, e.g., zippers on jackets, hardware on a bag, metallic elements on a pair of boots, etc.

I wear both, as well as rose gold and copper, but I’m far and away Team Silver. Works better with my skin tone.

I wear both silver and gold and seek out bridge pieces with that use both metals, to help me mix everything together. I also like stainless steel, and have a stainless steel and gold-trimmed watch that helps with the mixing.

Thank you for all your replies! I also hate when you order online and the metal hardware looks different and when you get it, its a surprise. The skirt I got recently has a gold zip which I wasn't expecting but I love it too much to send it back. I am pairing the whole outfit with silver so was a bit miffed. When I go to the effort of actually styling an outfit, I really am a matchy matchy person. I want all the hardware to match but alas I'm often foiled

Also I think perhaps I have mixed colouring. My hair is definitely 100% warm toned. I'm not 100% sure about my eyes, but I know gold and brown eye shadows work better with them. Silver definitely looks better on my skin however.

Im a satisficer when it comes to clothing. Unless really obtrusive—Eg gold buttons on a navy blazer—I tend not to notice the hardware. That said, right now, clothing hardware tends to be silver or pewter.

Prefer silver hardware on purses. Here I notice. Gold is Especially jarring with black leather.

In jewelry, I’ve switched back to gold. Culturally, really yellow 18-24carat gold is the sweet spot. I like mixing metals if stacking rings. Otherwise, I like to match.

Apparently I have a lot of metal preferences. Who knew!

N, I like how you put it with having mixed coloring. I like that better than "being in the middle" which is how I feel with metals! My hair is warm, eyes are cool, and I think skin is middling. I think I can wear all of them fairly well. Rose gold is the best, but it feels limiting to only wear that. I tend to wear more silver than yellow gold, but I don't shy away from yellow gold. And I like being matchy matchy, too! A bright gold zipper on a skirt would definitely throw me off.

I wear both and have a few pieces are mixed metals. I also pay attention to the colors I am wearing when I choose some of my meta jewelry. The pieces I have been fortunate enough to design have been mostly created with yellow gold, but I chose mixed metal settings for one tourmaline ring and one necklace. The mixed metals were perfect for the stones I was working with.

If you are close to neutral you can probably wear either one. I have neutral/slightly warm coloring and I tend to wear more gold because I just like the look of better with the colors I wear most. But my watch is two-tone (silver and gold) and I wear it every day so I can get away with either. I'd say go for both.

I am the same way: very close to neutral, but gold looks slightly better on my skintone. I have some metal sensitivities, and because of that, I gravitate toward sterling silver rather than gold (sometimes gold causes a problem, and I'm not sure why). Otherwise I would probably buy more gold than silver. I think if I were in your shoes, I would see what looks best with your outfits and then buy accordingly.

My goal is to have a fine jewelry complement with a few pieces in each color metal for a few categories: hoop earrings, dainty necklaces, and stud earrings. I often buy pendants separately from chains and just swap out the pendant.

I have found recently that if I make sure that my silver pieces are very shiny (that is, cleaned up with a jewelry cleaning cloth), they look better on my skintone than if not.

Oh, Ana brings up a good point. I have a watch that is two-toned as well, and it is really versatile. I would recommend getting one or two dual-metal pieces, since they're really handy.
