This is how I’ve been running around this week. One fairly calm outfit with my new jacket, and then mostly wearing a couple of ditsy floral dresses that have been in the closet for about 19 years. They kept smiling at me from my closet at my parents’ so I pulled one out to wear, which emboldened me to bring the other one home. At this point, I’m clearly not ever going to have another reason to wear them again.

I’m staying warm by layering dresses—an idea from Brooklyn, though not carried out in such a swanky fashion as hers. In the first outfit with the dark dress, I’m wearing a black jersey dress with spaghetti straps and a shelf bra. In the second outfit with that dress (after the scenery shots), the T-shirt dress I’m wearing underneath is visible. That outfit has algo; I like it with *either* the striped shirt *or* the plaid jacket, but I needed both to stay warm, so I kept the shirt under the jacket when I wasn’t taking pictures. Coming back from the grocery store, I am carrying my bike basket & bags.

I have a couple other outfits planned, once I do the seasonal wardrobe swap—the darker dress with forest green T-neck, black tights and black combat boots, or that dress with my long bright red cardi. I’ll try the cardi with the yellow dress too, might also try layering an orange ls T under it.

What do you think? Is it an outrage for a woman of a certain age to wear dresses intended for a certain different stage of life? Should I keep wearing them? How could I improve the outfits?

ETA 5 new photos, in which I try to implement Sarah and Brooklyn’s suggestions. I write about these in the comment where they are repeated.
