Hi all

Summer has been crazy busy. I’ve worked all through. I’ve popped in here a few times but haven’t been able to keep up. Top priority for 2024 is a proper holiday (haven’t had one since 2018).

But on to style matters…

I like the range of colours that goes from dark olive, to a more golden olive, to dark mustard and gold. I have become a little obsessed with golden olive in particular. It plays well with the darker, green based metallics (brass, old gold) that I enjoy.

I’ve been wearing olives and dark golds a lot this Summer. I think these colours are fairly neutral and a nice alternative (for me) to the more traditional fresh Summer colours.

Here I’m sharing some monochromatic olive outfits. I also wear olive a lot as a support act to other colours, but I’ll save that for another time.

Also, I’ve included a somewhat gratuitous screen shot of Trinny wearing greens with golden olive. I was very taken with her scarf, which is plum coloured on the reverse side. (Plum is on my DIY colour “to do” list, since it’s impossible to find.)

Your thoughts welcome.

Olive dark floral (pics 3-6)

The dark floral skirt is new this Summer. Dark floral is hard to find, especially in the warmer months. Do other dark floral fans agree? It’s quite frustrating. And when available it’s usually a synthetic. This skirt is all cotton. Yay for that. The pattern leans chartreuse. I think of chartreuse as a brighter version of golden olive (waving at Suz).

Pics 3-4 were day wear. In pic 5-6 I amped it up a little with a bronze top for evening wear.

Olive tie dye (pics 7-8)

The tie dye skirt is about 2 years old. Pic 7 is a daytime outfit with a DIY dye open knit top. Going for lots of texture. Pic 8 is an amped up version with a gold metallic top (worn back to front) for a Xmas lunch with friends. I wore a golden olive tank under the open knit top. It gives the gold top a deeper, greenish undertone so it looks more like old gold, which I prefer.

Graduated olive (pic 9)

An everyday outfit in a tonal combination of olive and gold with touch of burgundy (the necklace). I love a graduated colour scheme (hello ombré), so this type of outfit is particularly joyful for me.
