Denim jacket... take 1. ETA: Decision made

On Wednesday night, I had some time to go B&M shopping while my DD was at beach volleyball practice. I hit the Bay, among other places. Then tonight, while DD was at soccer... I hit another mall.

I now have four denim jackets to get your thoughts on. Here they are with three different dresses that I'd like to be able to use one with.

I'll put them up one dress at at time, with the jackets in the same order...

Any and all thoughts are welcome. Actually, are requested

I do not have to keep any of them, so be brutally honest.

ETA: Decision: I'm keeping #3. I ordered #2 in a smaller size, and in a lighter wash, as I liked this one but felt it was just a bit big. Well, the smaller size fit weirdly in the shoulders. And to be honest, I've looked at so many now, I just don't want to keep looking. I really don't think I'll find a fit better than #3. Plus, this was the cheapest of them! I may keep an eye out for another, darker wash one... because as we all know, it's okay to have several denim jackets

Ooh this is tricky. They are each nice, but if I had to choose one I’d say jacket number three. I think it works well with dresses because it is just slightly more cropped and fitted. If the purpose of the jacket was winter layering I would choose number 1, as I think it would go over a knit sweater well. I don’t like the fit of jacket 2 as much as the other three.

My favs are 1 and 3, with a slight preference for 3. I also like how a llight colored jacket works with your hair. Perhaps consider a white or light blue one in future?

I like jacket number 3 the best. I think darker jackets are more flattering with your colouring FWIW.

Jussie I agree on the fit of #2... it's too big. This was the first one I tried on, and it's very comfortable, but after I'd tried on more I realized this was too big. they didn't have the size down in stock, which is why I didn't clue in earlier... I have now ordered the size down. Agreeing with LisaP and StyleFan, the darker colours are better on me, so I thin kit's worth trying this in a size down.

Toban, I do have a white one. I don't care for the lighter blue ones on me as much, although to fess up I did just order #2 in the lighter wash as well as this one... why not, huh.

I like jacket #2 because the chest pockets are not as noticeable as on the others. It also seemed the most cropped for dresses.

3-- the sleeve and shoulder fit is the slimmest, avoiding adding bulk.

I like #3 the best, with #2 as a Close second. #1 seems too large, or perhaps too long with the dresses. #4 is a nice cut, but the exact shade of blue doesn’t seem to work as well in these pairings.

I like the lightest one best. It’s very Angie. The middle two, the fits bother me. They seem short/small/off in the shoulder.

I vote for No. 3. It has a neat, trim fit that complements your lovely dresses rather than competing with them.

My clear favorite is no. 3. It is less boxy than the other three, and the shoulders seem to fit you well. It also seems slightly shorter than the other three, giving better proportions if you're going to wear it with a dress.

No. 1 looks too big overall, IMO, and no. 2 looks too big in the shoulders.

#3 is the best fit. Will be interested in the sized down #2. This is a great exercise.

I like the color and fit of #3 the best. I think it is the slimmer looking arms and length of the jacket with your dresses that is appealing to me.

After that, #1. The color feels very summery.

#3 for fit, #2 for wash. If I had to choose, i’d go for #2 especially as the slightly boxy shape feels fresh but still fitted.

#2 is probably going back - I've ordered it in a size smaller, so we'll see how that goes.

#3 is still in contention, and I'll hang on to it, maybe keep looking.

The big reveal... if anyone is still reading... #1 is the one I currently own. I didn't want to mention that as I didn't want it to influence what people thought. I'm glad to hear most of you like it as second choice, which is perfect - I have no intention of getting rid of it, as it fills a different niche. The heavier sweater under it pants on bottom niche. But it confirms that I can do better for a jacket to wear with a dress.

Viva, the SA who showed me that jacket bought it for herself, and said that it "gives" with wear, and molds to the body nicely. She recommended buying it on the snug side, for an ultimate best fit. So good catch! I can't do it up, but I do like the way it falls when open - which is how I'd wear it anyway.

I like #3 because it appears to fit more neatly and also for the vertical line it creates down the front. The way the pockets sit is better.

Now I'm curious to know what they all are!

Suz, the first is Gap, from 3-4 years ago. #2 is Guess, from the Bay. #3 is H&M, and #4 is Dynamite.

This never happens to me, but the front runner is the CHEAPEST!!!

One downside with #2 is that the buttons are a dark brassy colour, where as #3 has silver, which is my preferred metal by far. But I do like the wash on #2.

Someone here took a sharpie to coppery buttons on a jean jacket. That inspired me to use a sharpie on a zipper on a leather jacket. It works, but may need touch ups. No biggie.
