I cannot go there (wore them in the '80s with long johns underneath, then wore them again when I was pregnant and postpartum), but if you are smitten, then go for it!
Mochi, she has tons of dough (lives at home with her apparently very wealthy parents) and wears very high-end designer stuff. The conceit is that what is trendy is oftentimes not what is conventionally "flattering" or attractive, by mainstream or male standards, and she embraces it. So, tons of layering that obscures her shape, unusual silhouettes, etc. that are very chic by of-the-moment style standards, but very odd or homely by mainstream or "typical male" standards. Hope that makes sense :)!
