Ok, this is my issue: So in my old place, I had a heavy dose of square-edged modern furniture. The place was built in maybe the '50s. Now I'm living in a place built in 1918 (or possibly earlier). I really like my bedroom and hate my sitting room. I've realised what I've done is filled my bedroom with curved antiques and shoved every modern piece I own into the living room - plus one traditional, fully upholstered floral yellow chintz sofa which looks terrible in it and a Turkish carpet I'm not gonna get rid of, even tho it goes with nothing (it's primary red and blue). There's no furniture I'm willing to part with. I'm too lazy to paint. I'd be willing to sew a slipcover (...altho this is probably more work, just less messy and disruptive, and I can play with my sewing machine).
My bedroom is apple green, cream, and blue with damask print curtains - so not floral and not rustic. The sitting room is yellow and white. I'd like the two rooms to relate.
So...basically, I've yet to find a fabric that fits the bill. Should I just bite the bullet and forget about style and colour continuity? Just go for a primitive gingham, a slightly more rustic fabric pattern, or a not-chintz floral? Is there something I could do with accessories to make things not so...square?
