De-Barneyfying the purple skirt - added pictures

My original thread about this skirt is here, so I'm back with a couple of changes. I was hoping to wear this to a fundraiser.

Pic 1 is my copy of MaryK. If I wear this shirt it needs to be tucked because of a bleach stain on the shirt tail. Yes, that is how I roll sometimes. Pic 2 is the MaryK inspiration. She sure looks like a lot more fun than me! Sorry the lighting is so poor. The belt is a woven navy leather and the shoes are a gray patent leather with a burgundy buckle. The next issue would be a purse. I have a navy leather shoulder bag but it is quite casual, a black leather coach shoulder bag, or a python print hobo. It will spend most of the evening on the floor, so it isn't a vital decision.

I also asked about wearing the skirt with my Halogen tipped sweater. Most thought they were too much paired together. Sylvie suggested a metallic top so I brought home a pewter tank to try - Pic 3.

Pic 4 is the metallic tank with my AE denim jacket. Pic 5 is with boots (one black and one gray because I couldn't decide) - which I will be starting another thread for.

I like the chambray with the purple - great copy!. Do you need to wear stockings? I think this outfit would be really nice with bare legs (or nude hose at min.) because your arms and legs aren't matching here. In a previous post you had a pic of your shoes -http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/shoes-5 - what about trying the blue shoes with the brass/gold buckle on front?

I love your MaryK copy look! I don't know about it for your fundraiser, but you definitely need to wear that combo at some point.
I like the pewter tank on you, but I wonder how it would look untucked? I prefer it with the denim jacket, but maybe I'd like it with the tipped sweater if you didn't tuck it. The boots look good, but honestly I can't tell which ones are black and which are gray on my iPad, anyway.

I have this skirt and I totally love it. Not sure why you think it looks like Barney. I love the Mary K way. You could also debombshell it by wearing something loose and oversized.
I guess I haven't worn mine in a while. It will come out to play this winter. This was my favorite way to wear it last year:

Texstyle, I was wondering about the hose whether they should be close in color to the shoe. I'll try the nude instead. I have to figure out something for better lighting in pictures. The shoes you suggested are actually a gray flannel with a silver buckle. I pulled out the patent because of the dressiness of the skirt. Man, this is confusing stuff!

Parsley, I'll try the tank untucked. It may be too long though. And the boots - again with the lighting. i do have a better picture of just the boots I was going to put in my boot thread. Didn't want to throw too many questions in one thread.

Modgirl, I love the boots in your picture! I guess the Barney reference is because I don't typically wear color on my bottom half, and the purple sweater and purple skirt together are a lot of purple.

I have a feeling you will like this more if you untuck the shirts. Amongst all, I like the Mary K look the best.

Grey and chambray are pretty close in color - I'd try them just to see - esp. if they have a little heel. And I would love to see a photo with the nude hose and the grey shoes if they do happen to work out. When you take a photo, not sure what camera you are using but typically first press the shutter half way down while aiming at a med. tone in your image so it gets a better mid-tone light reading - if you point the shutter at a lighter spot and first, and take the photo, it might not get the darks. If you point it at the darkest spot to get a light reading, it may lighten everything up. Hope that makes sense. Not that I'm a pro at photography OR fashion.

I actually like all of them. I think your MaryK copy is fab. I like the "tank + not really a suit" effect in #3 - although umm, please don't trust my judgement too much as I'm an amateur. And it's great with the denim jacket too! Between 4 and 5, I'm leaning towards #4 because I'm finding the boots just a little too voluminous. I feel like they're obscuring your beautiful leg shape.

Texstyle, the new pics have nude hose and the other gray shoes. They are a flat though.
Sylvie, I could kiss you for the leg shape comment : ) I've always felt they look like tree stumps. Well, maybe not in elementary school.

And to further complicate the options, I've added pics of the tank with my cropped denim jacket #3 below, and also another top entirely in #4 and #5.

Any other thoughts on the untucked tank and the other dolman sleeve sweater? I'm not loving the untucked look, but think it is the length of the tank. Thanks!

I really like the skirt with the metallic blouse untucked and with the longer denim jacket. Do you have a silver or gray belt to add a little waist definition? Prefer the flats over the boots too!

I do agree with you, perhaps too long. I'd go with the Mary K look!
