DD finally let me take her photo!

I added my fur vest to DD's look today and she approved... It's now hers!
She has been anti vests up until she put this one on today and her 19 year old brother, told her it looked awesome and made her look in the mirror...
Does this mean we are finally over that, " I want to be the opposite of Mom" dynamic she's had going??'
First Skinny's , now a leather moto and this! What a weekend! Sadly had to send her back to Boston College for just two more weeks...

Beautiful girl! And brainy! Vest looks terrific. (A wiser older mom once told me: remember, they are in a tiny boat and you are their dock... they have to push off hard to differentiate & get themselves moving through the water.)

It is normal for a teenage girl to rebel against her mom and then when that is over, they move from mother/daughter dynamic to close friends.

She is lovely and it sounds like you are moving out of the phase and into the friendship.

Glad she likes the fur vest. She may always define herself 'in opposition to mom' though. Sometimes it's part of a girl becoming a woman.

She is a beautiful young lady! And I love her style - the skinnies, the boots, the bag and the jewelry! If she is coming around to not being oppositional to mum, she's early. I didn't reach that stage until after college. But it takes time to process the idea that mum knows a whole lot more than you gave her credit for, and that a lot of her advice (that you may have rejected at the time) was spot-on.

Thanks, yes my daughter is a strong, confident, spunky young woman. I know her opposition is normal and have been patiently waiting for it to be over, still making suggestions but taking no offense when she denied most..

Perhaps going all the way to Boston has made her appreciated home even more...Graduate school has been good for her as it challenges her in a way she's never had academically before (school has been so easy for her) ... With that and living so far away, it's all good preparation for her resolve to get a Phd...
