What I wore: mid-wash skinny jeans, gray oversized cowl tunic
New piece(s): mid-wash skinny jeans, gray oversized cowl tunic
Assessment of new piece(s) – fit, etc.:
mid-wash skinny jeans: I really like the fit of these. They are not skin-tight, but they are sleek and streamlined, and the narrow ankles mean they can be tucked into boots nicely. Relaxed skinny is where it’s at for me these days. This pair (purchased secondhand) is showing wear, so I’m on the lookout for another.
gray oversized cowl tunic: you know I had been thinking this piece was too oversized but once I put it on I realized I actually really like it. (Maybe I shrunk it slightly??) The arms are the right length (rare for shorty me), the shoulder/chest area fits well, and the hi-lo hem covers the bum without the piece as a whole being overwhelming.
Is the outfit elevated/cohesive/refined? I think the dramatic silhouette of the sweater with the wide hi-lo hem and the large, structured cowl collar elevate the look. The blue and gray color palette feels harmonious.
Where is the contrast? A relatively simple outfit, but the contrast between the sleek bottoms and the oversized top does the job.
I wish I owned… Large but lightweight earrings. Actually my silver solje earrings might work…
I would have rather worn…(& why) I wish I had finished the outfit with some jewelry. I didn’t go outside but what shoes would I wear with this? Cognac riding boots, I think.
How else could I wear it? The tunic could go with almost any of my bottoms. I think I will not fancy it with black however. (If I go dark I seem to want to go ALL dark with a little bit of high-contrast white. So that the black almost becomes a bright. I don’t really like black-and-shades-of-gray outfits.) And not with the widest bottoms, like the charcoal velvet trousers. Otherwise, this is a reliable FFBO friend.
