Yesterday, my dad fell and broke his hip. (He's in his 80's, not in very good health, and has dementia). They took him by ambulance to the hospital. He needs surgery- the hip he broke has already been replaced. The femur cracked around the hip replacement and needs to be wired. Then they will determine if the hip replacement was damaged and needs replacing as well. They are trying to determine if his heart is up to having surgery (he was having fast and irregular heartbeat but they put him on medication for that). The surgeon had to order equipment for the surgery- he says it will be complicated and that my dad is at high risk for infections or clots. He wants to do the surgery at night this week. He has been admitted, but he still doesn't have a room since it's overcrowded due to COVID.
It doesn't sound good.....
