It would depend on how you wear them, I think. Would they be for pants or for dresses? Would you wear matching or contrasting hosiery? I prefer the dark ones...the tan looks a bit orthopedic to me but I would have to see them styled to be sure.
The photos look like a high frump risk to me. Perhaps if worn by a ballerina with a romantic swirly midi skirt? Or with the edgiest tapered ankle pants? I don't think I could pull this off. But, may need to see IRL to tell for sure.
"comfort goggles".... I have to remember this one. I think they'd have to be executed very carefully not to look frumpy. Maybe the dark ones with dark hosiery like Aquamarine said.
With that toe box you could 'funk' them up some but, yeah, I'd tread carefully. Hee hee, tread, hee hee - I made a funny. (yikes, maybe I need to get something to eat after that 2 miles)
I get a bit of a comfort vibe from them. I would see them as good shoes for travelling or something...when you had to have versatile and 18 hour walking shoes and wanted something that would just be acceptable. You know what I mean?
Comfort goggles for sure. I'm lumping those in the same categories as these, and I love mine to death...I accepted the full frump risk when I got them, and they have not disappointed. Mine just absolutely cannot be dressed up... There is no fixing the frump that they are (but they're soooooo comfortable!!)
OK... this is coming from someone who has on a permanent pair of "comfort goggles" (a certified Dansko clog wearer -- shoot me now!), so please feel free to take this with a grain of salt: I think they are kind of cute. Yes... they do have a bit of a comfort/sensible shoe vibe, but is that always such a bad thing? I know that I, for one, look better when my feet are happy.
I don't know. I bought a pair of this brand as an act of comfort desperation when dd and I were on a trip to Chicago and all the walking was killing my feet. I've worn them to work a few times since and get lots of compliments. Theyre actually probably my most complimented shoes. I find them very casual, like one step up from classic Tom's casual. I think I've mostly worn them with dressed and just below the knee leggings.
They are workable and a nice looking shoe BUT around here it's women much older than myself who wear these and I'm afraid the overal look is one of frumpy ness? However I have seen arty looking women also wear this type of shoe and carry it off well. I am really not sure that this shoe will add to your wardrobe (aside from comfort):). I would keep looking.
I think it might help you to decide what you want to do with them. We all need some comfortable shoes in our closets for walking and lengthy errands, and to be honest, most comfortable shoes are not all that fashion forward. I would say that if you plan to work this into your wardrobe as kind of an everyday comfort shoe, as opposed to a shoe that will really add pop to an outfit, then I would buy them. But if what you really want is a fashion shoe, then I would keep looking.
Yes, I second what Gigi said. As someone who wears orthotics some of the time, it is a toss up I am most familiar with. I go with them in black too.
Sal at Already Pretty had a good recent post about dressing when you have comfort shoe needs - it was in the YLF Link Love but I can't find the link right now.
Pil - those shoes aren't sandals are they? I don't think them frumpy at all anyway!
