Crops on fuller thighs eta new pics

I have a question for you for those who (like me) have fuller thighs. My thighs are a size bigger than the rest of me (or my torso anyway)

I've only tried one pair of crops on (because they are hardly a slam dunk on my short legs) and found that though it flares out lower, it was too tight at the very top of the thighs and highlighted every bump in that area which I'm fairly sensitive about.

Have any of you found on that works? Or is it just the old story of having to buy bigger and take in the waist?

ETA. I bought a pair as mentioned below. Would like your opinions on K/r and also on length.

How about crops with a flexible (i.e. elasticized) waist?

The Cat is right. I either have to go with a loose fitting elastic waist, or buy to fit my butt and tailor to fit my waist

Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen elastic waist crops in flows fabric around and they may well fit better. In fact in the 90s I wore full length, full pants like that which looked quite good, though weren't practical for me as I tripped over them.
I guess the only issue is that I planned to tuck, as that's how people are wearing them in my office, and I wouldn't tuck into an elastic waistband.

These are the ones I wore in my most recent post. They have a fluid fit and while there is a button fly, the waist is elasticized in the back. I tucked but bloused the top out, as I have a very short waist. The waist is high on me which negates any need to take in (it goes over my tummy.) I think Gap has some elastic waist ones too, but I have not tried them.

For the record, I have bigger thighs and hips than the rest of me, but my legs are long for my frame so YMMV.

I think I saw some wide leg crop pants in soft knit fabrics in Cotton On (do you shop there?) They looked very comfy, but might be a bit casual for work. I think they would give the impression of a skirt at first glance.

The flare on wide crops fooled me into thinking that the thighs would be looser. Instead, I found that, on the highly structured pairs I was looking at, the upper thighs were as fitted as on any other pair of pants, and that I had the same thigh-fit issues I always do.

You mean a wide leg crop or culotte? They -- like all pants -- come in different cuts.

First pic -- these are higher waisted, and have pleats and a lot of fullness around the thigh. That type could work easily for you. (The ones pictured are wool).

Second pic -- mid-rise, snugger on the thigh, so possibly a more difficult fit.

Then, in jeans: higher waist, fitted, but a fair bit of room in the thighs. Easy fit for you (and me!)

Second pair -- snug in the thighs. But stretchy, so they work.

It all depends on the cut or fit of a particular style. I have had luck with styles labeled "curvy" to fit my proportionally smaller waist and proportionally larger bum/thighs at the same time without resorting to alterations (though I have had that done, too, with good results).

Firstly - yes Liz, what you said was my experience too.

ChristinaF - I'll look out for construction like that. My difference in body is that I have a long waist and a long rise (and very short legs). My hips aren't that broad - I'm a "bottom and thigh" variant of pear shape.(and have square shoulders, so not a normal pear in that way either. But that isn't relevant to this post).

Becky - I wonder if we do have "curvy" fits in Australia - anyone know?

Anne, I have checked online at a number of Australian retailers Sussans, Katies, Portmans...no cropped wide legs. However, at Zara, there are lots and they are on sale - ranging from $46 - $60 (photos 1-7). These are some that I found. It may be worth popping into Zara to give them a try!
Last photo #8 is from Cue - lovely but expensive at $280. These are dressy enough to wear to work and would probably be good to wear almost year around. I think the paperboy waist and pin stripe makes these flattering, lengthening the leg line. Tempting indeed!

Ooh Bijou THANKYOU!!!

I can definitely make it to Zara and check those out (or order, if not in the shop) and they are in my price range (the Cue one is too high, alas, and I'm not sure I could manage a paper bag waist) I particularly like 2 and 5)

I'm trying to remember if you have any yourself?

Hi Anne, no I don’t have wide crops. I have 4 pairs of cropped jeans, so I think I may sit this trend out. I like the Zara pants too and they are good value at the moment.

I checked out Zara and Cotton On today, but didn't find many of those you picked (Wow they were crazy with the EOFY sale there)

But then, I stopped into sportsgirl on the way back to the office and I found some there! They are crepe or something similiar and do have an elastic waist but it is covered up by a tie. I couldn't take a picture (the curtin was black ) and have tried to find in online. It's something like this

I have some belted culottes in a flowy fabric - a little like the pic below- something similar could maybe work.

Seconding what rachylou said. I could probably physically fit a different style, but I think that this is the most flattering option for me. But, I got a compliment on my “skirt” Tuesday, so I just said “Thanks.” I’ve always been a midi wearer though not exclusively.
