Coveting this coat

I saw a woman at the mall this afternoon wearing a coat similar to this. How am I living without that coat!?!?!? This woman was just a walking ray of sunshine.

I’m all for colourful outerwear. I think your burgundy puffer is pretty rich looking, so you have that. Then you have your yellow Doc’s. I imagine folks see those boots and love them the same way you appreciate that fab puffer.

I have this one or maybe last year’s version of it - mine is not as shiny and more mustard. And I hadn’t realized Point Zero is a Canadian company so I’m glad I looked it up (bought it at a local store last fall).

Thanks, Lozz -- I have no idea where I would find it, but if I ever do, (and assuming it is in reasonable budget territory) I think I would be prepared to put it into action.

To follow up on the Point Zero brand, I wore my jacket out in our first Toronto snowfall today. My house is in disarray and I didn’t have my proper winter long Lole puffer or hats to hand. The hood functioned perfectly, it’s light but stayed in place and created the warm pocket around my face as it should. I bought this coat more for transitional weather so it was a pleasant surprise. It’s also quite warm (although I personally definitely need a longer puffer for real winter). It can be a little awkward to get the hood back in the cute cowl-like position, but not impossible.
I’m not crazy about the sleeping bag style puffers everyone seems to be doing right now, and Point Zero appears to have other options. Next time I need a puffer I will definitely look at theirs.

Lisa, I love your caramel coat. Would take something similar in cream, caramel or now sunflower yellow in a heartbeat.

Jules, I know what you mean about needing length for real winter. I've never really looked at Point Zero, but will pay more attention!

Stag, so true! Unfortunately in our climate not many of those days have the right conditions for this jacket -- but those are the days when you feel like having a bit more fun. Who knows? Maybe I'll find one!

Lovely coat! I've seen similar collarless puffers at Uniqlo (they had different colours, available in both shorter & longer lengths). It's not the same diamond quilted pattern though, if I recall correctly.

I have to sit on my hands when it comes to these toppers though because, although I would need plenty back in the UK, I'm already sorted for the 'winter' here with a turquoise rain poncho, chocolate leather jacket, packable puffer & a teal wool coat. I even have a heavy rust brown wrap coat sitting in a suitcase, ready for when I next head home - I know I have a problem, lol!

Thanks, Bijou! My smartest move would be to find a slightly warmer version of it, as our weather is often so much colder than a coat like this can handle. But the seed is planted, and we will see. My husband has a huge yellow parka that he wears on,y for shovelling snow.

The diamond quilting definitely does add to the classic, even ‘dressy’ vibe of the inspo pic. The French Connection one is cool too, in a more avant garde way perhaps?
I totally hear you on the fact this is not an actual Canadian winter coat, even more so in Winnipeg I’m sure. And the fact that ‘transitional’ weight coats, whether puffers, wool or leather, have limited use in our climates. So many inspirational, styled photos of outwear and footwear are really for much milder climates. It’s frustrating!

I have this coat, not this yellow but more of a safron. It is the same style with side entry pockets and is great for the rain or cool temps. Mine is from Everlane and works great with a hoodie and toque. Best of all, it isn't black!

OK, In a very “eat your greens” kind of a way, I say if you want this coat, you need a strategy for wearing it through the winter.

What layering pieces do you need to make it work?

LOL Approprio -- You mean business!!! IF I found such a coat and if I liked it IRL as much as in theory, and if it fit my budget, I have to say I wouldn't worry a lot about making it work for the whole winter. I'd buy for love and then wing it.

I need a variety of layering pieces for any coat -- including my heaviest one. That includes tnecks, heavier pullovers, cardigans and even other light puffers to layer underneath. In "the old days" I got extra wear out of lightweight jackets by layering blazers underneath, although I haven't really worn blazers in a few years.

In any case, first I would have to find the yellow coat.

Im a bit envious, Thankfull2! I do love a basic black puffer for some situations, but other times the day or mood just cries out for colour!

Such a fun coat! I took this post to be in the same vein as my own recent whiney rant about a pair of purple pants, where the point isn’t a carefully laid out strategy of how to work it into a considered wardrobe, but simply “COOL! Look at this neato thing (that isn’t for my wardrobe rn, darn it)”.
