Why yes, I've been living successfully without black leggings for most of my life. I don't live in the UK, though...maybe I'll have to buy a pair for when I visit my cousins there?
OK, seriously now. I do sort of like the look of leggings, and I tried them for a while a few years ago. There are two main problems. One: leggings simply cannot be worn without a top that completely covers your bum -- i.e. a tunic. (Or a dress, I suppose). And the leggings-and-tunic look works so much better on other women than on me. On my short and slim frame, a tunic is often overwhelming, and makes me look either topheavy or even shorter than I am. Not good. Two, I cannot stand the feel of anything stretchy and snug hugging my waist above my belly button. I've tried! I put them on in the morning and they feel perfectly comfortable, but then midway through the day I'm tugging at the waistband and feeling like I can't breathe. It might be partly psychological.
So I finally gave up on leggings and now wear either skinny jeans or skirts if I want my legs to show.
