Diana, I do that too - skirt and leggings on planes. Then when we land (ideally in Hawai'i) off come the leggings!

Yes - I can live without them! I've never ever worn them - other than as exercise gear. I feel the same way that others have mentioned - leggings completely dictact that you have to either wear a long top/tunic with them - or a dress - and the first option is not a style that I look good in - and the 2nd option just makes my bottom half look too heavy/clunky!

Essential! But yes, I always cover my backside. I wear them with dresses, skirts, and tunics.

I've never worn them, so yes, I can most definitely do without them.

I don't own a pair ( and live in the UK). I do wear jeggings with boots and opaque tights though.

Yes. In fact, I don't own a single pair of leggings right now and I'm not feeling the need to add a pair.

I use to never wear them, except for excercising. I now have a black pair and a jean legging pair and I like them. They work well in my climate where we never get too cold and I like the way they look with my tunics. I could live without them and I don't see myself buying more, but they seem to add a little spice to my life. That and I have a great set of legs IMHO.

I like them with dresses and boots or long tunics...

I like my charcoal grey and taupe ones much better. I wear them with just a tad too short dresses and black looks too heavy for the style to my eye. I think I only wear the black with heavy sweater dresses and boots in winter, actually.

Yup, I can live without them. I haven't really worn mine for the last 2 or so years. Occasionally I'll wear my denim ones though; that's when I want the look of jeggings but with comfort. I swear I don't wear them as pants though!

I just realised that though I said I bought leggings, they were footless tights. Target actually didn't have any leggings!

I want to like them but I'd really much rather wear yoga pants so the ones I have sit in the closet. Interesting that there are so many now on the market but not that many here in favor of the look.

I probably could live without them, but I did wear them two or three times last year. I have some short dresses/long tunics I like to wear them with.

I could go without them but I would miss them. I like to put them under dresses in the spring and summer. It's cold around here and I find them to really help with layering when it's going to be cold in the morning and warm in the evening. Dress + leggings + jacket or short cardi + dark necklace for balance + sandals.... then I can take off the topper and/or leggings when it gets warm enough.

It's funny, I used to never think of wearing them, but now they are an essential part of my wardrobe! I have thin, thick, shiny, and leather-like, and I love them all. I will never be one of those that wear leggings with shirts that do not cover the front of me, though. To me, they are not pants. But nothing is easier to pull off than a tunic-length sweater, leggings and boots. It is so easy to work around that basic idea.

I wore leggings all the time in the 80s. Cropped leggings with tunics and booties. Leggings under skirts (midi, mini, maxi). I had a few stirrup leggings as well during that time (mid 80s). I tried them again on three separate occasions in recent years but that's it.

However I do have a few pairs of skinny legging type jeans, I enjoy wearing those, they are very fitted but comfortable jeans. I don't think they look like leggings at all though, because they are woven not knit.

I do have a few pairs of leggings and where I once wore them quite a bit, I find that skinny leg pants and thicker ponte leggings and pants have taken their place. I think I like the subtance of something heavier than a legging.

I own three pairs - I use them a lot of transitional wear, but I don't go to them every day.

Black tights, on the otherhand = buy in bulk staple!

Hmmm, I only rediscovered leggings last year, a ponte pair for winter and a lighter 3/4 length for warmer months. I love the comfort and the look with tunic length tops. I personally have not been able to get to grips with leggings with dresses. And of course I DO NOT wear them as pants.... lol.

Definitely couldn't live without black leggings, but I only have one pair of good ones. I am looking for some thick leggings that are completely opaque and comfortable. Anyone know of any good quality leggings that aren't too expensive online? Boots and leggings will be my stape items this season...like most other women, I think!

Like CocoLion, I do have some skinny jeans and one pair of jeggings; they are woven. I only wear them with certain tops that are somewhat voluminous (not form fitting and not oversized) and long enough to cover my back side. The knit leggings cause me to have concerns about static cling, among other things--not to mention black's not my color.

I am so happy as a new member on YouLookFab so many of you guys took the time to give me your feedback.
I think women are put off by leggings, even a bit afraid because the quality in the most part is just not good enough to offer the support and dense fabric even young legs sometimes need.
Note to VernieJane: Personally I absolutely love leggings (comfort, ease and styling) but only the Venus Cow PBL, perfect black legging I created originally for myself because of all the reasons everybody has given.
