Angie's outfit post today lined up perfectly with my hope of wearing my super comfortable converse in a fun context.

I'm not in love with the blouse - I've had it almost ten years, it's too big a and too long for this look, and it's missing a button. I'd love to find a slim pullover to wear in this outfit instead, but I feel great in what I'm wearing!

The sweater later is a cashmere tank - too warm for a long-sleeve sweater today.

Suggestions on how to push it more RATE and less prep?

I really like it. To me, the converse take it out of the prep realm. However, I might be way off base since prior to joining YLF a few weeks ago, I would have thought converse were just for old-time NBA players;-) To me, they're pretty edgy.

I was going to say "More contrast in the blouse, to pick up the light of the sneakers" but then looked again and saw that your Cons are blue/white, so the shirt actually works really well. And I like your use of a tank instead of a full sweater.

Do the sleeves of this blazer push up at all? Seems like that's one thing Angie does a lot, to relax an outfit.

The look overall still has a pretty strong prep vibe; I'm not sure how else to un-prep a blazer and blouse. Will be very interested in Angie's input here!

I really like this look on you. If you wanted to make it more RATE and less prep, what do you think about switching out a prep element: replacing the blazer with an edgier, moto-esque topper, or keeping the blazer and swapping out the sweater and collared shirt for an embellished t-shirt and a cool necklace?

To RATE it up, I'd push up or roll the sleeves. Or change one element - jacket to leather, pants to distressed, shoes to scuffed boots.

Fabulous. Great job, and well done. I love your red hair with the slate grey tones of this outfit.

There is nothing Preppy about this look to my eye.

Do you wear faded and shredded jeans? That would amp up the RATE factor.

Also Greyscale, are you petite? That's a pretty long blazer to wear with flats, but the column of colour helps create flattering proportions. If the blazer had been high contrast, the proportions would not have worked as well.

I love that you love your outfit. Brilliant.

Una is our resident RATE Queen so her advice is golden here! But not being a RATE person I like it as is

Thanks! I'm not petite, but with my long torso and short legs, the ideal blazer should be a few inches shorter than this one. But I love this one so much that I made an exception. I considered getting it shortened but as long as I wear it with jeans rather than the matching trousers I think it's ok.

These jeans are a bit distressed (r13 slouch jeans) - it just doesn't come through in the photo. I agree that it helps make it more casual. Next time maybe I'll try really shredded jeans!
