Copy of a Copy: Cobalt Heaven

There's been a blast of blue on the forum lately. I threw my hat in the ring with this post:

1. Well, the first of these pics is a copy of K's copy! My silver shoes are flats, and my top is black and optical white, a little sharper contrast than K's version. I'll wear it again, I think. The burgundy cardi is soft cotton. Should I have opted for black shoes -- even if they're round-toed?

2. It was finally cool enough to debut my halogen merino sweater on Monday. The first look was MOTG -- with my BF's and metallic animal print slipper flats. The top has layers of fabric strips, for a little texture. This is a great sweater --- a little boxy (which I surprisingly like), and very lightweight.

3/4/5. I had one lesson to teach at home, so I switched into the skirt in Photo 3. Appropriate but, really, YAWN! After I finished teaching, I made the kids wait for dinner while I tried on #4 and #5 (which swaps out the sweater for my Olivia Moon jacket). Better, even if they're all a little safe.

I'm a little underwhelmed by my assortment of pencil skirts this fall --- except for the midis, which are fresh and still ladylike. I'm thinking about adding a black tube skirt, and am waiting for a cool day to debut a printed pencil that Shannon sent to me. Printed bottoms are a fresh change!

No, I lke the silver flats in nr 1 better than some black ones, and I actually loved nr. 3! Simple and still peroffesional for teaching at home, I think! And, as already said many times before, I love cobalts and purples on you! YLF!

Thanks for the thumbs up! I wore cobalt to bed, too, just to keep the theme going (lol). So far the family hasn't noticed, but I think I may break the streak today.

We're still in the mid 70's, which means my BF's are coming out to play!

You look fabulous, Beth Ann. The minimalist in me especially loves 2 and 3. Just perfection. You shine in the colour and need no more. But #1 is equally fab (I think either shoe choice would work) and the others are also great.

Isn't it funny how we can get so particular about the length and shape of our pencil skirts? Yours look great on you to me, but I hear you on your requirement for just the right fit. Before you buy the black tube skirt, what about seeing whether you have any seam allowance on the skirts you have? I let down my Halogen skirts. It was only an inch -- and they are not true midis -- yet the mid-knee level felt so much better to me for some reason. It was the best of both worlds, I guess.

Thanks, again, all! I broke the cycle and am wearing berry and bf's today, but I'm getting ready to go for a walk in my ---- wait for it --- cobalt dri-fit!

Amy: I wondered about cobalt with my denim, too. But I liked this better than I expected to. I wore it to our homeschool group. I don't usually teach in jeans, but everyone is pretty low-key, and I want to "blend" a bit, at least at first.

Suz: I will check the hem. I think I've always know that midi length works for my proportions. I bought my first midi in 7th grade, after all, when everyone was still wearing short skirts. Now that they're becoming available, I want MORE! I think I'll have to sew fuller skirts, though. Just too hard to find in the stores here!

I love the silver shoes in #1. I think they play off the white in your shirt and your silver accessories, even including your belt, perfectly. They add a bit of the fun and unexpected.

Beth Ann, you have hit your stride and are running! 1,2, and 3 are all just downright amazing and Id loveto see 5 with the same white undershirt as I really love the way the jacket hem falls. But it is hard to compare across the different contrast to me right now. I think your proportions studies have been spot on and knowing midi's work well for you means its time to stock up while they are readily available!

Love the "copy of the copy"! You look so good in cobalt- it goes so nicely with your coloring, as do high-contrast colors like black and white.
All these outfits are good, but #1 is my favorite.
