Thanks all for your suggestions and, euh, compliments on my legs.
Suz : I was attracted to the tartan and the shawl collar - 2 of my weaknesses - and then found my-unboho-self the owner of a kimono.
Smittie : the closed shirt version is in my comfort zone, the kimono is a new experiment.
Barbara Diane & UmmLila : that's what I see, too.
Shevia & Staysfit : you must be of the make-strengths-out-of-your-weaknesses school
Staysfit : it's a stiff cotton fabric, so it stays put inside the trousers, but it doesn't blouse well.
Inge : thanks for the suggestion, that would make the torso longer, like a welted top would. There's not enough fabric to wrap it around my waist though, it would be more like a shirt tied in front and that might be too bulky, I'll give it a try.
AJ : thanks, it's a bit long for dresses, might work if I find a magical way to tie it. Can't belt it over dresses either, I have a strong dislike for belts, they just underline I have no waist.
Firecracker : thank you, and I think you're right about #2 feeling better, not only for proportions, but because it's less feminine.
And yeah, I had to buy props at the boulangerie for this post - I'm working hard to entertain you guys
Maneera : thank you, one of the advantage of my body type - trousers are easy to fit.
Joy : thank you. No no no, low carb versions won't do !
