Considering some new blazers

I am back in office full time since 3 weeks. I run cold and office has freezing AC, so even when it is 30 Celsius outside, I wear camisole, layering thin merino wool sweater and blazer inside. I have purged quite a bit from my blazer collection lately due to the fit issues and could really use some new ones. My two favorite blazer are navy and red in finds. They are same models from the same brand and I am so happy with the fit, fabric and quality that I wanted to get more of the same. I found those 2 on deep discount (but it is not main reason, I got other 2 full price and haven’t regretted) that I like color vise, but I am not sure if the color would suit me and how it will fit with the rest of my wardrobe. What do you think about possible color combinations? Are those colors too muddy for me and will not go with my favorite bright colors?

I'd be pretty careful about buying these two new ones. The colours are in a completely different family/season/tone/depth than your red and navy . I can't see either the green or the sand working with your skin tone.

lisap - I was afraid that this is exactly the case and why I am hesitant to pull the trigger. I also can’t really envision outfits with them except combining them with black pants and white top wich sounds very boring.

I can't judge how these will work with your skintone. But I do own a seafoam blazer (similar shade) and find it surprisingly versatile. I like it with navy and aqua, and can imagine it working with your blush and citron pieces. But you really have to like the effect - you typically wear crisper colors and few mid tones.

For Liesbeth and Inge on the other-hand, the seafoam blazers are slam dunks!

I have an old seafoam leather jacket that I love, and is very nostalgic. Greg LOVES it, so I will never part with it. I wear it with my happy brights and it works - good with white, denim and navy especially. That said, it would have been better in light blue

Liesbeth and Angie - you are right, they are not good choices for me and I should pass. Problem is I don’t want to get black, navy or gray blazer that are available in abundance as always, and I don’t really like any of the colors offered this season. There are lot of mid tones and muddy colors that are not speaking to me.

What Angie said. How about looking for scarves, masks or print tops that could pull in your brights with your favorite blazers, like a multi color stripe? A white blazer or jacket may work well with your brights. How about a leather or faux leather blazer or jacket instead of wool, maybe even a metallic?

I'm agreeing with everyone else, though I do like the seafoam. I have a blazer I own in three colors, and while I love it, I feel I might have gone a bit over the top.

I would make do until you find a blazer in the right colour. It is early in the season.

Stay away from the sand and green blazers because they will completely drain your complexion. If you could find it, I think a pewter or low luster silver blazer would be stunning on you.

Thank you all. Some good ideas here. Because this is addition for my fall winter dressing, I am not sure how I feel about white, but maybe a cream or off white? Pewter, silver and metallic sounds amazing, but haven’t seen anything like it. But, yes, it is still early in the season. I don’t mind having the same blazer in multiple colors because I dress very uniformly for work. But I like having variety of blazers because it is most visible part of my outfit and I don’t like repeating the same ones often. I would rather wear 5 blazers and one pair of pants in a week than 1 blazer and 5 pairs of pants. I am always amused by those work wear capsules that features only one or two blazers I would go crazy wearing the damn thing every day, regardless of how many different combinations it can make.

I agree, those colours would drain you. Have you looked at Boden and Whistles? They may be offering some interesting colours. Every year, Whistles issues a jersey jacket in some interesting colours and it's slim fitting, I think it would work beautifully on you.

Also, may I ask if you are considering different shapes and lenght? This could help to add some variety!

Ooh, a cream blazer sounds lovely for you and I think it won't be hard to find once fall collections start coming in good. And how about a print?
Metallic blazers may be easier to find late in the year when holiday styles become available...

I think it depends on whether you like the jackets because of fit/style or because of colour. If the colours speak to you and you feel like trying something different, why not? I can see them working with your other colours. I don’t think you should feel locked into a particular palette. But if you like the fit/style of the jacket and are only considering these colours because that’s all that’s available (that is, you’d actually prefer other colours), I’d say no, take a pass.

Anchie, if you love this brand/ style, hang on for it to be re- issued in better colors.

But I do think you should explore other retailers to find a few that fit you, so you can watch them for your colors, since some years are better than others for finding those perfect colors.

I hear you on making your blazers your source of daily variety and statement. That also makes it helpful to get good prices on what can be the more expensive wardrobe items, but not to the point you buy wrong colors and then regret them. So having several brands on your radar is good. I find that much harder now myself ( for any type of item, not just blazers) since several good mid- range retailers have left town, leaving me to the online size and fit guesswork.

I agree with the others — I can see a white or cream blazer suiting you much better than these colors. But count me as another who wants something in that seafoam color. It’s one of those colors that is magic with my eyes but not easy to find!

I did try couple of other brands but I didn’t like the fit as much as I like fit of this one. And now I found few more colors also on sale that are still available in my size. They haven’t released any new colors for upcoming season yet but I am sure they will.

Ooh, I think these second two possibilities are much better than the first. I wonder especially about that lighter blue — could it be used as a light near-neutral to add some contrast to dark winter outfits?

I am just like you with respect to wanting variety in toppers (although cardis for me rather than blazers). I have the exact same response to those capsule wardrobe setups!

It seems like they offer the same jacket in different colours often. Those last two could potentially work on you -- especially the brighter blue -- but I'd wait to see what comes up for fall.

Lighter blue jacket - complimentary to your hair maybe?.. Easier to combine with black, cobalt blue, charcoal, red, soft white..

The second two blues you just found are much better! I can see those working well with the colours you like to wear. Really good with red and yellow!

I well understand your need for more toppers and in different colours.

I was about to suggest you look for a bright blue blazer. Then I saw the one you have found. Go for it! It will team well with black, grey or navy bottoms and with white, pink, yellow and red tops.

IMHO, other good blazer colours for you would be magenta, purple, turquoise and emerald green.

The blue colours are super. I had a seafoam 3/4 coat from Zara and it was a super colour to wear, so I am nodding with others on this colour.

Thank you all for the feedback and advice. I thought about this some more and decided to be a rebel and order the sea foam blazer anyway Maybe because of upcoming fall season, or maybe I feel oversaturated after summer, but I am not feeling bright colors at the moment. I am craving more muted colors and light neutrals. There is also possibility that color will look different IRL, and if it looks awful on me, I can always return. Here is some inspiration from my closet.

I personally think the colour sea-foam is highly versatile and goes with most other colours, although people do not always recognise it immediately. A bit like the colour rust, I was struggling styling it until I opened my mind up and gosh it goes with alot of other colours. Off the top of my head sea-foam goes with white, navy, teal, purple, red, blush, citron, burgundy, rust. Hope it looks good on you as it is a beautiful colour.

It's interesting to read how many people are yearning for muted and light neutrals, I guess it's a reflection of these strange times.

I hope the sea form blazer will work well for you I can understand the appeal as it is a beautiful colour and very soothing. Off-white would have also been a good option for you!

On the subject of outfits: I was curious what tops worked for you with that beautiful ombre skirt ( besides solid white, black or navy )? I've got my own ombre skirt ( more simple - navy into cobalt blue with black elastic waist ) and still figuring out outfits. And thank you for inspiration
- you are the reason I took a chance on that skirt!
