Clothes for rain

It's been pretty dry and crispy where I live, but today we had 60mm (two and a third inches) of rain. This is very exciting, probably even more exciting than clothes (really). However, I managed to tear myself away from watching the rain gauge long enough to show you what I wore on this auspicious occasion. It was just me and my phone and the cows don't have a mirror in their paddock to take selfies in so the photo is what it is.

Note the puddle of water. This is the best accessory a girl can have.

I love those zebra patterned boots, how fun! They brighten up any rainy day. The homemade gingham shorts are also fab.

Such a cute look! I have leopard print gum boots:). They are so much fun to wear. Glad to hear you had some rain. It's pretty dry here and we haven't had much at all.

I think the "gum boots" must have come from the original materials used to make them. Rubber from gum trees?

In any case, you look adorable!

Here they are called Gummistiefel (Gummi=rubber). And very cute, from what I can see.

I hope you get some too, Deborah. It's so nice to see the grass greening up after all the crispiness.
Gummistiefel: interesting.
It makes sense for them to be called after the rubber trees, Suz.
Karie, I always wonder if my homemade clothes have a big neon sign hanging over them saying 'homemade' and then I think 'what does it matter?'. I haven't found shorts I like in the shops and these are so quick to whip up and are cool cotton that is wearable on a hot day. I appreciate your comment.

I love this. But then I have an inexplicable fondness for gingham, wellies* and strange camera angles.

*short for wellingtons, after the Duke of Wellington, and what we call them in England

approprio, I love how there are different words for what's essentially the same thing. In Australia we call shoes that have a piece between your toes thongs, but other places seem to call them jandals (sp? NZ?) and other places flip flops. I occasionally call my gummies wellies too. Must be my English heritage!
