What do you guys think? I’m in the street car on the way to the pool, so can’t put them on, but I have these two(!) pairs with me.
The store I was looking forward to—lillabror—is still there, but has in the meantime become a grocery store that also sells Weleda products. The remaining shoes are in the back room & fairly disorganized. We did find a pair of cheery red Sanitas with ankle straps in my size. But I convinced the store owner to give me until Tuesday to return them, because the strap is so long that my foot moves away from the shoe fairly far when I walk. The deal is that I take it to a shoemaker to see the strap can be shortened and then reattached.
Then, just a couple blocks away, on the way to the streetcar, I happened to come across a shop that had many clog-type shoes in the window. They had the wine red ones which fit me perfectly with no repairs, but they are a lesser-known brand, Hee. It is Spanish, and I know there are quite a few good quality brands from there but I’m still not sure. I usually go for quality.
Both pairs feel light on my feet, but the Hees are more pleasurable to walk in right now, with no repairs. I’ve got two birds in the hand and need to put one of them back in the bush.
Besides wearing them to the graduation, I’d want to wear them casually, with jeans as well as with other skirts & dresses. Maybe some shorts too. The Sanitas might go with my red pants; the Hees will not
Suntiger, I wish I’d known that when I walked past the Birks shop in Scheinenviertel the other day. That’s the shopping district I was excited about exploring after the shutdowns. I spent two afternoons there this week, nearly went into the Birkenstock store, but there was a line because of Covid procedures, so I skipped it. Wah-waaaaaaahh sad trombones. But now I have these.
