What do you think of clear glasses frames? I've seen several examples and I kind of like them, but I'm not sure if they read as much more hip and funky than I actually am!

Here's an example of the kind I have in mind -- just normal size, slightly nerdy style, rather than the gigantic oversized frames I sometimes see super fasionable types wearing.

I've tried them, but they washed me out and didn't do anything good to my face, to say at least-but you should try them your own first. Post picties here, will tell you the truth(which is always out there:-)).

I have a pair and like them quite a bit. I have a small face so it is easily overpowered by glasses. By using the clear frames, I felt I was able to participate in the trend for larger lenses without looking silly.

With glasses you really have to try them on. What do you have to lose? Give them a whirl.

I've not tried them but like what I've seen on others. Clear glass can had a bit of subtle sparkle as it catches the light.

They look really goofy on me. For one thing, I need more contrast than they provide. For another, I feel like you can really tell that my Rx is quite different (both thickness and curvature of the lenses) between my two eyes when there's no opaque frame to hide that. (I have the same problem with half rimless styles.)

I had them with sunglasses (prescription). I really liked them. Of course then I had brown hair and now I have silver, but I felt kind of cool in them. I might actually have been. Who knows?

They look great in the photo. They're definitely worth a try. Is your hair light? I think that may be part of what I like about your inspiration photo--the light frames echoing light hair.

You should give them a try, as it is only when you put them on that you know that they will work. My husband has some rimless frames and they look fantastic on him, whereas the style does not suit me - it really is a process of trial and error with frames.

The style is modern and trendy among 20-somethings I know. I like them (although don't own them) as more subtle than a darker frame. As Diana mentioned, your prescription will affect the final look.

It's been hard to make those see-through specs work on clients and friends because they often look like protective goggles. But DO try them on. You never know.

i had a pair I loved but I've somehow lost them. DS called them my ghost glasses! The pair I got in Seattle with Fabber help is translucent grey and green. So I'm a yay!

I am currently wearing clear Coley frames from Warby Parker. I have high contrast coloring and tend to wear graphic clothing. I appreciate that the clear frames add sparkle without adding more contrast to my look. My frames are the best shape for my face, but the clear frames are more forgiving than black or brown.

I tried several pair, and the consensus was that they washed me out. I have to admit, I am not sure how the color "clear" can wash a person out, but I ended up with a translucent blue-grey pair that I love. I'll hunt for the thread and link it for you.
