Cleaning up at the NAS - YouLookFab Forum

I did not participate--nor did I ever in the past. But I was plenty curious to see what everyone was getting. It was fun to even spend time on the Nord. web site, and more fun to see what the big "hits" were that everyone wanted.

I had paused at these Madewell jeans, and thought about buying them then. They are not a basic color, and not even a basic shape. So I didn't need them, but I did feel sad when they went back to full price after the sale. (They were $100 at the sale.)

But just how supply and demand work--now they are $88.80! I still don't know if I will get them--being between jobs, I need to watch my spending. But they sure are cute--I think it's the darts at the knees that does it for me.

We will see...I just thought it was funny to point out that I (could) beat the sale!

It's neat that you can reconsider these pants at a lower price! I think they are a very cool color and shape.

I've experienced a price reduction on NAS items AFTER I've bought them at the sale and BEFORE I've had a chance to wear them, which is discouraging! I might have even gotten a price adjustment, I can't recall.

It does happen every year, though. It's just a matter of whether your chosen items sell out at the sale or not. If not, they're likely to show up at a lower price around now!

I never participate, living on the other side of the world, and in my first year or two on the forum could not understand the fuss! I was glad there was a separate section so I could just hide the NAS part, which I still often do during July. But in some past years there was a lot of discussion on this very point, that the prices could go well below the sale prices by the time it was cool enough temperature wise to wear the things. So then it depended if your size would have sold out, and how badly you wanted something. The sale is not relevant to me, but I have come to feel that I never need something that badly. This is after many years of FOMO especially on shoes and since realising that there will always be more. Many Fabbers have been incredibly happy with their NAS items though and wear them for years, that balances out the unhappy experiences with prices going even lower that some had.

Great color and really cute jeans. I didn't participate in NAS this year, either, Carol, but I always enjoy seeing what other forum members get, and what items are really popular.

NAS doesn’t usually capture me, unless they have a really interesting color that is hard to find. Instead, I do my bit to Clear the Rack. This year I found some great Madewell jeans there for about $ 70. They are a light sage green that is now gone. I am planning on wearing them in the Spring when I get bored with my winter clothes. That can be a fun way to find additional styles from a brand you like, if you know it well enough to do final sale or can get to a store to make sure it’s going to work.

Sharan--Yes, every time I have visited that page, the pants are still there, with little to none sold out. I have to believe they were popular, though, and just had too much stock.
Jenni NZ-good reminder about FOMO. I almost jumped on these pants back in July just because of that concept. But the more I am aware I am operating from FOMO, the more I can stay in control.

cat2--I never really know brands, but I seem to do okay ordering. Probably because I am usually sticking with more casual, less tailored items. I will have to spend more time at Nordstrom Rack--I really have'nt, much.

My NAS participation has evolved through the years, but I am always interested to see what Angie recommends and what people gravitate towards. Yes, sometimes the items go on sale later, but sometimes they don't!

Jaime--I know. I have not watched the sale a lot, but people often seem to go for no-fuss basics--a perfect tee, a fleece jacket with a funnel neck, or whatever.
Jenni--wow, thanks. It looks like this happens a lot! I don't know if I could go ask for a price adjustment, but I guess it's worth it when it all adds up.

Well Carol as Echo said in that old thread-“$50 here and $50 there and pretty soon you’re starting to talk real money”. I was interested to see my own responses back then, it was fairly early in my time on YLF.
In New Zealand we still get very few free returns. About the only business that I buy from that offers it is the large Australian shoe site called Styletread. It must be a business decision that suits them to have NZ customers even if they have to fly stuff across the Tasman Sea (only about a 2-3 hour flight though, closer than some other parts of Australia.) I still feel bad if I have to send things back.

Jenni--a lot of companies I use do free returns, but then, I often don't return. International companies--I am not sure how expensive that gets. But it is enough to make you just want to stick with the mall or thrift stores.
