Chunky cotton cardigan - thoughts? 5.7.21

I have finished my spring/summer shopping now , in my usual binge style over a couple of days. I think all businesses are likely shutting down effective tonight anyways, so getting this done in person was important to me. I've fallen hard for clay/rose/dusty desert tones, and besides my new cream jeans, have picked up a couple of tops, a scarf, two tanks, and this cotton chunky knit cardigan . I'm on the fence about the sweater and wouldn't mind your thoughts.

The fit is fine, the colour is perfect, but it's a fairly loosely knit cotton and I'm concerned about how pristine it will look after a season of wear. Fuzziness happens to some short -fibre cottons and at the price this sweater was (I did get it at a sale price, but still.....) I'm a tad worried. Also - it wasn't on my list of things I "needed" this season and I definitely don't *need* it. On the upside, I can see it sliding into wear immediately, and will look good with blue denim, white, olive green and even black. I guess I'm out of practice with this kind of sweater as all I've worn for a few years now are longer, slinkier cardigans. It's not a super-flattering /slimming look, but I don't think that's a deal-breaker. What do you all think?

Lisa - that’s a really gorgeous color for you. The cardigan is very pretty. I always think v necks are flattering. I can’t assess quality but a cotton cardigan is dead useful in warmer weather. Love it.

It's gorgeous on you. If you can handle the slouch, which is likely to get more slouchy with wear, I think you'd wear it a lot. It's a great style for tossing on with nearly anything.

I like the whole look - light in color rich in texture ( earrings, shoes and lipgloss are perfect together ). Very fresh spring outfit.

I see that it is machine washable. I've had some looser cotton knits appear refreshed after washing and flat drying. Though maybe hand washing might be better.

Would look very nice with jeans and a white top.
Also with both silver and gold accessories.

I think it looks great but you have to love this slightly slouchy look. I love the color and fit of the cardigan and find jeans are perfect on you.

Definitely, keep! Looks great on you, and I've found that the cotton sweaters in this type of knit from GAP and BR have held up well.

Irina - they are on sale right now . 30% off . This is a M . I wanted to try a S but it was sold out already . I’m surprised that the sleeve length is good for once . No cuffing required. I still feel like I’ve spent a lot of money on something I’m unsure about .

All looks gorgeous! I love how you match the top and cardigan and lipgloss and part of the earrings, then the other part of the earrings with the pants and shoes. It makes it look so cohesive.

I’m not a cardigan person at all but that color is fantastic on you!

My husband saw me trying to find the “perfect” earring to wear with a pair of metallic snake sneakers - and he was dumbfounded that I would do such a thing. I was dumbfounded he thinks it’s all random . Like , why do you think I had a career in fashion and merchandising and you had one in aircraft mechanics ?

Lisa, we were *just* talking about this style over on my thread... I'm on the fence about this shape on me and had similar concerns about the longevity of the knit of this particular one, but the color is beautiful on you! I'm looking for something more neutral, so may hold out for one that has more and of structured drape, but the style definitely has legs trend-wise. La Ped is the expert.

Yes, notsaf’s post got me interested in this sweater ! I think it will be great for evening walks too , when the temp drops and a gear jacket is too “ strict “ . I think I’ll be keeping it . I wish they had a looser fit tank in this colour though - these ribbed ones are great but only if you don’t take off the sweater - for me , anyways . That ship has sailed . I remember having literally stacks of these ribbed tanks in my 30’s and 40’s , and that’s what I wore all summer . Sigh .

Carla , I love Stylebee’s looks but she features pieces that aren’t realistic for most people - that’s a $500 sweater . She does this so often and it drives me crazy . And she’s so young too - .

Easy for me to say because I love cardis, but I have kept items that are not necessarily my typical choice (blazers for example) if the color really works for me (and the fit is good). There are some times when I really need the boost of a flattering color!
This is definitely one of yours (& one I suspect will work w/ any hair color you choose, your own or your reds &/or blondes.) I don’t really recall seeing you in that shade often...if you don’t have it, imo you should! The beginning of a great relationship (well, capsule maybe).

Tank top’s a color-keeper too...they can often be stretched if you wind up feeling it’s too snug.

Ophelia - thank you I sized way up in the tank to reduce the vavoom factor , but that also lowered the armholes accordingly . I don’t know what I’m doing anymore - lol . All I know is I’m done with shopping and want to move forward .
