as a 90s child, I was of course delighted when chunky boots came back in. the Refinery29 post from the recent Link Love had this marvelous pair of too-expensive-for-me boots in it. I collected some options (all from brands I know fit my feet well) but none of them were QUITE what I am looking for.

I really wanted a good pair of chunky chelsea-style boots with utilitarian details, rather than the usual more refined look. I kept finding ones I loved....above $500.

Finally, Ecco (makers of my hard-wearing and super-comfy hiking boots) came through for me! I usually wear their men's line -- I have wide feet and don't wear heels, so men's shoes are frequently more comfortable -- but their women's line does fit pretty well. So these are on their way to me, and I'm pleased to have found something I really like at a price I am comfortable with. Hooray!
