I’m on my way to becoming a high maintenance woman in my 60’s! LOL! I don’t know if it is a reaction to the lack of access to professional grooming services over the past 18 months, but I’ve actually increased the number of personal care services I access.

Hair: I used to go 3 months between haircuts, and would book an appointment when things looked dire. My hair is longer (grown during lockdown) but I now have a regular (pre-booked) appointment at 2 month intervals. My hair is natural so it is just a cut and style.

Aesthetics: I’ve been getting my lashes tinted every 6-8 weeks since age 14. I’ve recently added brow tinting to the regime and it’s a game changer!

Mani - pedi: I started doing my own pedicures with polish (in summer) in my 50’s, with a professional pedi two or three times a year. Mani’s were very rare - saved for winter beach vacations. During Covid I purchased a gift certificate from my aesthetician, to show support during lock down. When services were safe/allowed, I decided to use the credit for regular professional mani’s. I loved having colour on my finger tips, and I took better care of my hands - wearing gloves when cleaning or gardening and moisturizing my hands and cuticles. My hands and nails look better than ever and manis (regular polish) last 3 weeks. I still like to do my own pedi’s, but I’ve got a standing appointment for a mani every 3 weeks now!

What about you? Do you access the same services you did BC19? Have you stopped some things? Do you do more things yourself or differently?
