Yes, yes, yes! Absolutely, April. Donations to your sister certainly count. I think you actually get bonus points for the challenge if you send things to your sister.

I am reluctant to join in the donating, however, because I just went through the closet editing process and I'm still finding some of my previous orphans useful now. But, I can certainly commit to taking the actual bags to the donation facility!

I wish this had been the challenge for last weekend. That's when I finally did a very over due closet purge and donated FIVE garbage bags of clothes. Yes I am proud. Only took me 4 months though, ok a little less proud now. I don't think I can handle more clothes at the moment but I am going to do this with shoes instead.

10 items went today to the daughter of a friend who can't afford to buy for herself:
3 dresses
1 pair jeans
2 camisoles
3 sleeveless tops
1 sleeved knit top

I've got another bag ready to take to a thrift store for donation that's mostly shoes.
It's strange, but giving those things away has helped me think of other items I can let go of. Great ideaq for a challenge.

Culled:

one dress
a 15 year old Jones New York black pant suit
two cropped corduroy blazer/jackets
two denim shirts
pair of sandals
two sweaters
A-line skirt

Besides the well-worn-and-served-me-well suit, the other items were either never worn or barely worn. I am happy to FINALLY be learning how to be a more discriminating shopper so that won't happen any more, and how to let go of all the duds.

Over the past several months, I have already removed bags of clothes, now the last of the stragglers are gone. Thanks for this challenge, Mac!

Well, that was easy.

-- 2 items for Mae
-- 2 items for consignment
-- 5 items for charity
-- 2 items damaged and tossed

I passed ten without even trying. Maybe I should challenge myself to 20...

I took three bags over to donate today. Now my husband won't trip over them every time he gets into bed LOL

WOW! I was expecting maybe one or two people to take part; so thrilled to do my autumn culling with many of you!

If you want to photograph what you're getting rid of, that's cool... but if not, that's cool, too. Main thing is to to just DO IT.

finish filling my bag tonight

I have a bag that's ready to go to charity and another ready to go to my sister......definitely more than 10 items in the charity bag and maybe 5 to my sister

LOVE THE EDITING.

Don't mean to shout, but I get very excited when people edit their closets

Yes, I'm due for this. I have tagged 1 dress, one top, and 2 jackets. And I am returning (I know this isn't a donation but it's still lightening my closet) 4 pairs of jeans that I'd bought before I'd found the great Kut jeans. The others still have their tags on them and are unworn.

I have tossed out two pairs of worn-out flats, and got rid of one skirt and two dresses. Yay! I'll do more culling this evening after work.

I'm hoping to edit accessories this weekend. I've been shoe testing all week and there are too many uncomfy ones and I have scarves coming out of my ears!!!! x

OK I have to say, I planned on doing this today... but well, a friend gave me the Gossip Girl Season 3 set and seeing as I had uninterrupted time to watch I indulged in a day of being a couch potato LOL (OK, is it sad to admit that at 31 I love this show? I love the fashion, and well, I can't decide between Dan Humphrey or Chuck Bass - maybe I can have both ROFL)

BUT, tomorrow I am attacking that nasty box sitting in the corner of my Dining Room - it HAS to GO!!!

I just sold 2 pairs of shoes and 2 tunics on e-bay yesterday. I'm going to finish cleaning out my closets and shoes today, so I'm sure I'll have more stuff to donate or sell.

Theresa, too funny! I haven't gotten to start yet either but I have the whole weekend. No sweat!

I actually found more than 10 things to remove from my possession! I think the total will be closer to 14 items. I took photos of everything, but having a hard time uploading them here so have only attached a couple of snaps.
- 2 velvet short sleeved, cropped jackets. Never worn.
- 1 pair of exercise shorts. Now too small for my ever-expanding body.
- 1 pair gorgeous high-heeled Anne Klein sandals. Beautiful, but too painful to wear.
- 1 pair hand-made Sigerson Morrison loafers. Lovely quality, but always too wide for my feet and too frumpy for my tastes.
- 1 cropped angora/wool cardi, with silk trim. Never looked good on me
- 1 scarf that I was given as a birthday gift. Adore the colours, but the style not "me."
- 1 pink and purple Betsy Johnson dress. Very pretty... but not pretty colours on me.
- 1 black Banana Republic wool skirt
- black polyester dress
- Several stained tshirts and tank tops

Besides the stained tshirts and tank tops, everything is in wonderful condition and I hope will be treasured "finds" for other women.

You guys inspired me! I did a huge closet rehaul this morning, sorting through all the various sizes scattered all over and organizing everything so I can know for sure what can be worn now and what is for later. I didn't think I would be getting rid of many items, since I have been editing out what I know I don't wear or don't really like, but I did end up with at least 10 more pieces (a lot of lacy camisoles among them) to add to my existing donation pile.

Tomorrow I will sort through all the workout clothes, and do the seasonal shoe switch (sandals are getting put away, Franco Sarto shooties are coming out). I usually end up with a few more items there too.

Way to go, Kristen!

DONE!!!

From the horrible box sitting in my dining room, I threw out an huge bag of rubbish, have a small bag of things to give to ex-H when he drops girls off later, & a teensy pile of things to keep! YAY!!!

There are now only a handful of boxes left in my garage & office/sewing/craft room - but these are next to be sorted.

AND, while i was on a roll, I quickly had a look through my wardrobe, put some winter stuff away, pulled out a few summery things & sorted my "house" clothes... from there I am donating/tossing:

1 pair of jeans - totally unworn over winter so not likely to be worn now!
5 tops - long, short and sleeveless
1 Dress - if you can call it that - WAY too short, way too tight, ridiculous!!
3 shorts - all old yard work ones that are never worn.

So, even without emptying that box that had been taunting me for the past year, I reached my 10 things!

Thanks Mac for setting this challenge that got me into gear! Now that its school hols here, I am going to see if I can get through the boxes in my office/sewing/craft room in the next 2 weeks!

Okay, everyone - it's Sunday night (at least in EST timezone)... I moved my 14 items to the car, to drop off at the Salvation Army next time I go grocery shopping (it's a few blocks from my grocery store!) So, I considered my job done.

Tell me - did all of you who wanted to take part manage to get rid of as much as you'd hoped?

I pulled another 6 items last night , so that makes 15...I am going back in later, I am sure more must go!!.
Out on the curb tomorrow!!

I bagged a bunch of the kids' old clothes today, plus some of my old underwear I had been meaning to clear out. A good 20 items in all, but there is more to go.

Yup, we dropped our bag to Good will yesterday!

Yes 10 shoes/sandals have been moved out of the closet. Drop off may not happen til next weekend, but the designation part is done!

Umm...my goal was to get the bags to the donation site. They're still in my garage. :/

Well done, everyone. Er... almost everyone : ) The challenge is now officially over; let's do this again, soon.

Oh bummer - I started this, but 2 of my shelter hospice cats took a turn for the worse this weekend and I ended up spending all of my free-time with them! However, I am still going to try to meet this challenge tomorrow. I say, better late than never! (And my wardrobe soooo needs to be edited!)

I managed to cull 9 handbags plus another 3 i'm undecided on x

I'm stuck at five pieces, but I also need to go through my exercise gear today.
