Hello.

This Caslon dress caught my eye while shopping NAS so I figured why not give it a try.

#1 to #4 - With Tan Ecco Sculpted Luxe Sandals and Tan JW PEI Tote From NAS
The Ecco sandals I already own. The JW PEI Tote is from NAS (you can also see it styled here). I really like how the sandals pair with the tote. I also think the sandals and tote look good with the dress.

DH is not a fan of this dress. He thinks it's too long and also not my style. Indeed it is much longer on me than the model in the stock photo. I don't think shortening the hem will work well. There's a seam more than halfway down the dress (it's around where the top of the tote bag is in the photo) that will be very close to where the bottom hem of the dress would be if I shorten it to the length in the stock photo.

#5 to #6 - With Navy/Pink Stripe Adidas Breaknet Sleek Sneakers
I'm working on building my dress capsule and one thing I have to consider is the footwear for dresses. I am very casual and wear sneakers often. This dress doesn't seem to pair well with sneakers like the dress in this post does which is more boho in style.

#7 to #8 - With White Asics Japan S Sneakers
Another sneaker option I tried with this dress. I wasn't a fan of this sneaker and dress combination either.

I have some thinking to do. It's a lovely dress but I'm not sure it fits my lifestyle and current needs.

I understand what you mean, yes the dress is little longer, it looks like maxi dress. The outfit with sandals looks better than ones with sneakers. You can wear it with heels, but I am not that is your intention. If you hem it little I don't know does it solved the problem. In any case this dress is too long to be wearing with sneakers.

I like this dress and think it looks very pretty on, but it doesn’t feel very summery to me despite the fabric, especially for your hot climate. I see it more with boots in the fall. Maybe that is too niche an application for your wardrobe but worth a try?

Mirjana - Indeed this dress is long enough to be a maxi length, not exactly what I was looking for. For a warm weather dress I want to be able to pair it with sandals and sneakers. Thanks for your feedback!

Cookie - You've made a great point, it's not a summer dress, and my climate is hot more of the year than it is cool. I'm only recently back on team dress, right now I can't see me sporting dresses and boots over jeans and boots when it gets cold. But I'll try my current boots just in case I like the look, thanks for the suggestion!

I like the dress on you, it looks good with the sandals. I am not sure if length is an issue but shortening it will require very good sewing skills because of that lower tier of fabric. I think that the color may be too dark for the type of dress, it may make it too warm to wear where you live. Otherwise, the fabric seems lightweight and breezy, which is nice.

I like the fit on you but the dress is indeed, too long. Alterations can be done, I don’t know if it is your style but it’s nice.

As for the length and proportions, personally, I prefer the length of midaxis and midis. This is a maxi - (although, maxis are on trend). Soooooo, I think awesome dress if you have it hemmed at least 5 to 8 inches - an easy alteration at Nordies.

Gorgeous with the sandals here! I also vote boots - cowgirl boots! - in the Autumn.

I think overall I am with DH and Lise. It seems to overwhelm you. Way too long.
It is a nice colour with the tan sandals and bag.
You track wears if I remember correctly?
I suspect like my 13 dresses, you’ll be taking many years to get to #30 wears on this dress. You’re only recently on Team Dress and like me your default outfit is not a dress.

I like how it looks but I don't think it is exactly your style and would like it better shorter I think. I guess the question is would you wear it.

Joyce B - You've got a great eye. This dress is heavier than I prefer for our warm weather. I don't think it will get much use during colder months, although I'm only recently back on team dress so time will tell. And I also think shortening it will be a challenge and it could lose some of the overall style because of that bottom tier of fabric.

Kyle - I though the same at first, the dress is quite long. I don't mind long, but it seems very full and a lot of fabric.

Irina - It is a lovely dress, but I don't think it fits my current style.

Angie - Indeed the top half fits well (certainly better than the Caslon Chambray dress did) and is very pretty. I did a style session this weekend and while I like the dress I don't love the dress. And I have too many other goodies from NAS that I do love to keep this one. But I'll keep an eye out in the future for this style of dress. It was a great learning session trying it out.

Sal - I agree that the dress is really nice but not something I love enough to keep at this leg of my style journey.

Yes I also track CPW and I can see this dress taking me a long time to get a low CPW. I'm going to look for something that I love and will get a higher CPW.

Jaime - I also think that this dress is lovely but not quite right for fitting my current style. It's a lot of volume and something about it just seems off to me. I'm going to keep this style of dress in mind for the future but return this one.

I like the length, especially with the sandals, but I think I am the only person in the forum who likes maxi length skirts and dresses.

I think the issue is the style of the dress. The combination of puffy sleeves, volume and tiers in the skirt is a very romantic prairie or cottage core look. I think of your style as sleek, modern and sporty. I know you do sometimes lean boho but I’ve never seen you wear something this romantic and olde worlde. So, to me, it doesn’t fit your style. Unless you are feeling like a change? If you want to sleek it up a bit, you could either remove the puffy sleeves or remove the bottom tier of the skirt.

It's pretty--great color, great fabric. Don't love the sleeves. I myself just got rid of a great top in that exact shape, because the collar and sleeves together didn't work on me. It was sad, but I had to.

I am late to the party, what is the verdict on this dress? I don't particularly like it for you, it doesn't seem to suit your style.
How are you doing with other new dress? Are you getting your money's worth from it? If not, do not rush into buying another dress too quickly.

Late to this, but I’m also seeing what Brooklyn sees. It’s a lovely dress but doesn’t seem like you. Your style these days seems to embrace a sporty ease and I’m not getting that at all from this piece — the sleeves annd the long tiered skirt are the most dramatic example of what’s not working to my eye. I’m definitely getting “prairie” from it.

Agree with Brooklyn, my first thought was prairie dress. Doesn't seem to suit you. Otherwise, great fit and I kind of like the length. But it is a lot of dress. Especially for summer.

Carol - I don't wear this type of sleeve often and indeed I am not sure I would like it. This dress is not the one for me, but would be lovely for someone else.

bella - This dress is going back. It's very pretty but not right for me. I'm enjoying the casual dress that I already have. For any new additions for my casual dress capsule, the dress has to work well with sneakers and sandals/boots. This dress does not work well with sneakers which makes it a big no for me for my casual dress capsule.

Janet - "Prairie" is a great way to describe this dress. And at this leg of my style journey, that's not part of my style. The dress is going back to make room for something that's a better fit for my casual dress capsule wardrobe.

RobinF - A great point. This dress is not thin or lightweight and we have very hot summer's. It's not the right fit for my casual dress capsule so back it goes!
