Capris... to wear or not to wear....

There is so much dislike around for Capris, yet most in my beach community are still wearing them... This is what i wore grocery shopping yesterday. I saw so many woment in capris, but none looked stylish as they all paired them with t-shirts, tennis shoes (aaaaagh!) and flip-flops.....

I refuse to wear them unless it's with my beloved collection of wedges... Just wondering have you given up on capris or is there still a place for them...

PS. note the cardi in my hand... I have to carry them around all summer as the AC in stores is too cold...

THAT pair of capris looks great ON YOU. I think you could pull them off with flats and with sneakers too. It is the right length, style and color for your legs, and you have nice legs to wear them on!

I think capris that are not wide at the bottom, but relatively tapered and end fairly high (just like the ones in your photos), still look great and are figure-flattering, especially with wedge sandals.

Those shades of pink look great on you!

What I don't quite get are the very wide, loose fitting longish capris, especially the ones that flare out at the bottom. Add to that tennis shoes - not a flattering look at all.

I echo what Makrame and Irene said. Your capris are super stylish because of the fit and your footwear. Keep rocking your look.

What Maksame said about the shape of the leg. I think it also involves finding the sweet spot on your leg, as I believe Angie has mentioned. This season I also think a slouchy pair with narrow legs rolled seems the most current look. Tracey, I want to roll the legs on the ones you are wearing to just under or on the kneecap. They look a bit dated with the little slit, more like vintage pedal pushers.

I think of capris as mid calf pants. These look like clam diggers since they end right below the knee. I really love this length on you! Wear and enjoy!

Made all mine into shorts over the last years. It was the footwear challenge more than anything. I used to wear them for work, and couldn't wear wedges or cute sandals. Need closed toes and heels. Much happier with them as shorts and able to wear sneakers no problem.
Yours look fine on you. The narrow leg helps a ton with the 'standing in a bucket' issue many create.

I agree that the cut and the styling you've chosen keeps these out of frump territory.

I am in the market for a pair of...something? clamdiggers? as an alternative to above-the-knee shorts for summer, and I ordered a very basic pair of capris that I am considering altering so they hit just below my knee. I find capri lengths tricky!

These are clamdiggers so I think you're safe! The length and tapered bottom are very flattering on your leg.

Anyway, I think of capris as too-short pants, while clamdiggers are more like long shorts. (When I complained about my poison eye for traditional bermuda length shorts, Angie said just to stick to clams, so I think of them as my long shorts for summer.)

Yeah, I would call these clams, and they are my preferred kind of shorts. The fact that they are tapered and where they hit on your leg makes them look good.

Thank you, I never thought of the term clam diggers... in fact the tags said Capris, but I think your insights are more accurate. i put a few of my other capris in a pile to alter to the skinny legs...

This is a super flattering cut on you. I think you could wear a variety of shoes and still look polished as well. I hope your other clams will be up out of alterations soon

They definitely still have their place, and you look great! Our climate dictates to us what we can and can not wear, and I'd be far too hot in our summers not to wear capris.
