"Camp" Vest Keep or Toss My Orphan?

Have any of you been watching that show "Camp"? Well, last week I think I saw the main actress (name escapes me) wearing an olive vest with a tank under it and khaki shorts and I remembered I had this vest but have only worn it like 2 times.

It's been pretty much an orphan and I dug it out of the holding drawer just to see if I might get a fresh look by copying the "Camp" look.

I kind of like it - I've tried many vests that have not worked for me at all. But I'm still not sure.

What do you think? Is it wearable? Any suggestions on other styling? I've worn it over a long sleeved white tee and jeans in the fall and I liked it but I got the "looks a little like you're going hunting" comment from the DH.

The close up is of a simple $2 garage sale necklace I picked up a few years ago and like to wear when I've feeling light hearted and "summery." It reminds me of the ocean and our many visits there.

Yes, keep. For inspiration, check out Angie's ensembles board on Pinterest, in particular the casual vest ensemble but also the combat pants, white top and red accents ensemble, which will suggest great colour combos for your olive vest.

I really like your vest with the striped top. I have a vest like that and wear it with a casual knit skirt and a tank top. It is adorable with the navy striped skirt I have.

I think my vest is longer...so I am not sure how proportions play into this, but I would try it over a dress and over a chambray shirt. I can't figure out how to link my Pinterest board, but I searched for cargo vest and pinned some ideas from there.

I think the vest has potential, but you'll have to be careful to not style it too casually to avoid the hunting/fishing comments.

I'd really like the vest styled in a juxtaposition, like the putting me together link. Now I kinda want an olive vest.

As mtgrl suggested I went to pinterest and looked up cargo vest and found some ideas and inspiration, so I thought I'd share. (thanks again)

Some ideas I saw:

Cargo vest ...
with a chambray shirt and sparkly skirt (I likely won't do the skirt but I think the idea is dressier pants and some feminine jewelry).

over a turtleneck with several necklace strands (again the feminine side) and dark wash jeans or black pants

with white jeans and a white top and deep brown belt (have all these items)

with navy/white polka dot top (and I have the navy polka dot top)

with a deep yellow long sleeve top, leopard scarf and navy/white polka dot skirt - and it looked good with all that going on.

The outfit with the leopard scarf made me think ahead to fall when I can try the leopard print scarf I bought or the leopard print jcrew blouse (Ingunn's twin) with my olive utility jacket.
