I’ve been hankering for something in a butterfly print. I found this skirt on end of season sale at a local retailer and it was *LOVE* at first sight. Dark green, asymmetrical and butterfly wings

I went out last night to Sunday dinner at my mum’s. It was a cold and wet night so I wore it with my tall black boots. It might be the last wear of the boots for the year. However I will be able to wear the skirt with sandals in summer.

I went very column of green with a green top from last year and a new green and black colour block bag. The bag was also on end of season sale. I’m feeling drawn to colour blocking again after a long hiatus. I couldn’t resist doing a matchy matchy thing with my old green circle belt.

I’m now stocked up on dark green. Green has been very available here for the last 2 or 3 years but I’m scarred by the 10 years or so before that when it was VERY hard to find. Same with rust.

Does anyone else stock up when their favourite colours are available?

Lovely outfit Brooklyn!! What a score - I can imagine you pouncing on this.....The belt looks good too and a reminder to me that I have similar type of belt that I rarely wear. Maybe it is time to try it again.

I am not that smart at the stocking up on colours but I think I am a bit more random in my choices to start with.

And our weather here is all over the place - one day I am thinking I might need to pull out my shorts, and the next I am pleased to have boots and layers still.

Our weather is the same. I was about to put my tall dark boots away until next year but looking at the weather forecast I think I will keep them out to the end of October.

The green belt is from the 90s or early 00s I think. Which seems like the last time dark green had a moment here! I’m trying to be strategic about stocking up - mainly buying essentials that will hopefully last some years. I think you are much more adventurous about colours than I am!

Absolutely gorgeous! I am always on the lookout for certain colors but the second hand market does not have as many restrictions.

Darn - love the skirt, the bag, ring and all outfit together! You are so lucky - perfect pieces. YLF!
I was stalking EXPRESS website to get the second skirt in midi length and snake print ( two things that I love now ). I finally scored today - hope it's not going to be canceled. The price was very low - end of season.

Yes! You are wise to stock up when available. How I wish I had bought more of last fall’s. Autumn colors of rust, mustard and olive when it was available. This goes for household colors too. I have been looking for deep (o blood) red dishes to go with the ones I have. That used to be very plentiful and suddenly were gone. This is the time to fine bright red home goods.

You look stunning in forest green and the bag, knit and skirt are all sensational items and look fabulous on you. I predict that warm weather is coming your way, we had 31C yesterday - with warm and sunny spring days scheduled for the week ahead.

I tend to stock up on lilac and turquoise items whenever I find them as they are two of my favourite colours to wear and seem to be hard to find at retail. I am really glad to have a bag in each of these colours, because I find that they really help highlight these colours in any prints.

I do have mixed feelings about buying out of season - for me the success rate is mixed which is why I have not taken the plunge with Boden's fabulous range of items in turquoise that Angie has collected. Even as I type this I am questioning whether I will live to regret that decision...

Thanks Bijou. Send the warm weather over! It’s only 18 today. Do you need any enabling on those colours I think lilac in particular is hard to find. Do you have a COS in Perth? Quite a bit of lilac and cyan blue (which is close to turquoise). I actually bought a cyan blue denim jacket. A boo boo, I’m afraid. It seemed close to teal but it’s too bright for me. I’m returning it but it would be perfect for you. I will post a pic. (I’m a shameless enabler.)

Wow! Your outfit is just beautiful, again- and you're so damn right! I also stocked up on greens (dark forrest, shiny golden khaki, sauer mustards and more, including mint for summer)---I've just never found them in my shops for very long years I've almost forgot it is one of my best color (as I have greeny grey eyes). According to Panntone it might have been the year of blues- but for me it was rather the year of greens -and am so happy with it!

YES I’ve been snapping up all the browny-orange-pink colors because they used to be so hard to find....now I may have gone too far in my “stocking up”!

About stocking up on favourite colours: if I could, I would! My favourite colours - light colours, white, pastels - are so difficult to find in retail, especially in Fall/Winter. I had an incredible luck this past Summer, I was able to find a sky-blue blouse, a pair of pink pants and a white short puffer that I am wearing every day since the beginning of October !

Count me in on the team that stocks up on favorite colors. This winter that there is this fabulous cold green that hasn't been around for the past years and also rusts and cold browns.

That’s a beautiful skirt and I love the classic fall boots, but this outfit is really a study in how small “extras” are what makes the outfit. That belt and ring are just perfect.
To answer your question, I hope full length pants are normal and the period when they were hard to find will remain an aberration, but I def feel the need to have plenty in my closet, now that my ankles can be covered again.

Brooklyn, you're beyond stunning in dark green. What a find with that gorgeous skirt and I'm having some serious belt envy with that green circle belt. I absolutely stock up on my favorite colors when they're available. I remember about 10 or 11 years ago, brown in any shade was almost impossible to find and black, navy, and gray dominated retail offerings. Great selection for those cooler toned ladies, not so much for me. Right now, I am on the lookout for warm-toned greens and turquoise.

It's a good idea to stock up on hard-to-find colours these days, if budget allows. Hence I am stocking up on turquoise and waving to Bijou.

I wear a lot of pink-coral which is not a color I ever thought I'd go for, but it looks well on me. This past summer was a good year for coral so I stocked up quite a bit.

Great outfit! I've only started thinking about this recently, with colors seeming to have taken a different direction this year which don't suit me as well (the opposite of your situation I guess). I should have stocked up on blue based burgundies more, lol!
Otoh, I have permitted myself quite a few purchases in seafoam this year (also my color of the year) because it's such a specific color that's been having a (no doubt short) moment.

yes! I am stocking up on rust and hazelnut like nobody's business and would LOVE to find something in bottle green - you are right that it is so hard to find these days. You look like a long, lean drink of water

You should always stock up when you see your colors. Right now I’m on an olive kick. Not too dark, though.

I love this new skirt, and the belt is a perfect accent. It will be interesting to see how you style it for warmer weather.

I also keep an eye out for particular colors: periwinkle and lilac and teal being high on the list. I am currently resisting a periwinkle blouse that I don't need but know would be flattering (the find shows the burgundy).

Yes, i totally understand, years ago it was so hard to find navy, so when it finally started showing up again i became a semi hoarder. Now i actually have to tell myself there are other colors out there, and I don’t need to own all the navy!
Love a skirt that will work in winter and summer...and i love butterflies, so this outfit (especially the skirt( is a double win for me

I giggled at kkards' comment - I think I have hoarded olive and earthy greens. I do still feel a twinge of panic when I see an item in a desired color and FOMO if I don't snatch it up... I am getting better at NOT buying something JUST because it's green, and trying to vet the item a little better...

I do wish I had added more rusts and chocolates when they were available...

Like Jessi, sometimes I don’t know if I’ve overdone it. But like nuancedream I also remember so well that LONG period in which it seemed you could only get black, white, grey and navy. And then I start to have a colour starvation problem that causes me to jump on items that are the right colour but wrong in some other respect (fit, style, fabric).

Sisi, you have the opposite problem to me. I struggle to find the darker colours I prefer (except black) in spring/summer. Light colours look fantastic in winter. But they are hard to find. I love a column of winter white.

Nemosmom, that sounds like me. I saw a dark green mock neck top at a local retailer. I have a similar one but it’s a turtleneck. Still I debated getting the mock neck, but in the end I didn’t. It sold out within days! Now I wonder if I made a terrible mistake! A dark green mock neck top may never come my way again. Argh!!

FI, full length pants are still hard to find here. I’d love another pair too.
