I pinned this outfit a long time ago.

It is VERY popular. I get emails almost every other day about someone who has re-pinned it. Frankly, I'm getting sick of it of seeing it.
This probably speaks to my contrarian nature of not following the crowds. But I love trends, which by definition are something that could be popular. How's that for some juxtaposition?

I think there's a difference between people pinning and actually wearing - as I can attest.

Maybe it's not just about trends, but being on the "front edge" of a newer trend that is more compelling.

Also, the concept of the outfit works across a wide range of wardrobes, style directions, and available items. It can be done for a variety of seasons and price points. Does that make it too "generic" for want of a better word? Is it where simplicity and frequency of wear combine to make it mundane? It feels quite accessible somehow, which may draw some in while repelling others.

Yes, I think that's right. Jeneva did her version recently, right? At your suggestion? And she looked fab.

It's also a way to wear low contrast with denim -- a kind of column of colour with denim -- which is a pretty neat concept for figure flattery. And sometimes a bit hard to manage with denim, you know?

Out of curiosity, what did you see in the outfit and what do you think others see in it?

I would ascribe its popularity to the fact that the model's profile looks very much like that of Celine Dion. Seriously, I can't look at that pin and not think:"Celine Dion during some down time in Vegas". Nice outfit though - accessible and chic.

Accessible and chic as Nicole said. I rather like it, but I am so not cutting edge in fashion
