Brooks Brothers owners - worth it?

Hi everyone,

I am in need of a good, classic white button down and am considering the non-iron tailored BB shirt. The price is quite dear for me so I am wondering how much folks who have them love them.

I realize that they are stiff, and that's what I'm looking for - something very sharp and crisp as well as versatile.

Andrea, I think I'm in the minority here - I tried them and returned them, as I didn't love them enough more than my Gap button downs to make the price worth it. BUT, they also didn't fit me well, as the sleeves were long, and I had to size up make them fit in the bust. But that 's just me, and I hope that others who love them chime in as well. You are not petite (I don't think), so they might fit you really well.

Sarah was inbetween sizes and fits - and it's totally understandable that she returned them. Rotten luck, Sarah :(. Glad that you love your Gaps!

I LOVE my BB's shirts and have found them 100% worth the expense. I have 5 (3 white, 1 black and a grey). They function like basic tees in my wardrobe. Roomy, yet fitted. And very crisp.

Andrea, I have clients that preferred AT, BR and the Loft button down shirts. And my more apple shaped clients are smitten with Foxcroft. Some even J. Crew and H&M.

I would experiment.

For me it is. I have two and they are by far my favorite and most often worn button downs. I only regret that I did not buy more when I had a chance because I can not buy theme here where I live.

I adore my BB shirts, I like the crisp material. I also like Express shirts, which are a tad easier on the wallet. They do require ironing but layer really well. My BB shirts, I actually prefer on their own. I find the stiff material a tad difficult to layer with for me.

As a recent convert, I would say yes, the quality jumps right at you, it is undeniable. I own two, but I can see myself getting a couple more!

... And another ditto for Express essential shirts. The button placement on them is brilliant. No gaping whatsoever, even if you go for a more snug fit.

I have one in black and one in white and I am quite impressed so far. The no-iron claim stands true. For my body type, the style that only buttons up part way is the winner -- the other one is cut too straight in the body for me.

My alternate pick is the BR white shirt. It does need a little ironing despite the non-iron claim, but it fits well and is well made for the price

Thanks everyone! I will probably give one a try and see how I like it. I'm moderate/small busted so "straight" may work for me.
