Brace yourselves--lots of hair photos

I don’t think this is exactly OT because Angie says you can’t start a style transformation without addressing your hair. For anyone with patience, please read on.

Basic question is, should I get a fringe or not? My mom and my sister think it does not look good on me. My husband thinks it’s kind of cute.

So here are hair cuts I want (and also for anyone who has seen The Big Blue, a.k.a. Le Grand Bleu, I want to look like the female lead, pretty much):

You have beautiful hair and gorgeous eyes! I vote go for the first rock star look. Throw hubby a bone and cut a fringe. Let's hear what pro Taylor has to say too. And the other members too of course. Shorter will work as well I think. Exciting!

You gorgeous thing! You can carry off a lot of looks, that's for sure.

Is your hair naturally wavy like it looks in the last several pics? I have to defer to the hair experts, but if so I think you may have to commit to flat ironing the bangs. At least that's what every wavy-haired person I know seems to have to do.

[Hence my coarse- plus wavy-haired commitment to what you call "pseudo-fringe" (shorter pieces that swoop) instead! ]

My vote is also for look #1 - it is orgeous and you have the hair to carry such a look. Go for it! It'll always grow back.

I really like your hair in that pic where you're holding the baby. The cut looks shorter than the ones in the other photos, but with longish bangs and it's layered and fringey (is that even a word?) all over.

Since you have the opposite of my scraggly, fine hair, I say go for the fringe. I'm not happy with mine but I think it would be killer on you. If only I could donate mine!

I say get fringe for the hubby. I like the length best when it's resting on your shoulders, no longer, with layers for lots of bounce and movement. You have great full hair.

Thanks a lot for the kind words and encouragement. I think I will go for it. It's been awhile since I have had to suffer with a bad haircut, so I am nervous but feeling strong.

About the length, like several people said, I do suspect my hair looks best around shoulder length, but I hate the way it tends to majorly flip out where it sits on my shoulders. (I blow-dried against this in all the photos.) Also I have this romantic idea about having long hair, even though I inevitably chop it off.

Maya - I like your bangs, although I haven't seen a different style on you.

Taylor - Just wanted to say extra thanks for noticing that I try to style my hair (at least in these photos) I think by now I can give myself a decent blow out (not straight, but at least shaped), but anything beyond that baffles me. The photo where I have straight hair was done by my old stylist. My new one is always trying to give me crazy big curly hair. She cuts well though.
