BR long blazer: not for me - YouLookFab Forum

Coincidentally, when Angie’s post appeared, I was trying on a BR long & lean blazer in a plaid pattern. I like plaid and I thought it could make a versatile topper. But there’s two things that made me decide this one goes back:

1) it did not work as magically with most of my spring trousers and tops as I thought it would. Now that I see the formulas, I think it’s because I own more slouchy than skinny or straight pants. Did not quite feel right, see pic 1.

2) it was tight around the upper arms as soon as I raised my arms a bit (tried to capture in pic 2). This would make it my most expensive yet least comfortable blazer. Not acceptable.

I did like the style in general and would consider trying the same from a different brand if I was confident I could wear it with several options in my existing wardrobe. Otoh, I may wait until fall and buy a plaid/tweedy pantsuit if the trend is still going strong then. Or just sit this one out for 2019 and see what 2020 brings...

What do you think? Do you have the same fit issue with woven blazers? Would you wear a long blazer with slouchy pants?

Well done for listening to your thoughts; I think you have said it in that it didn't feel comfortable. I am okay with the fit on woven blazers but I do like a little flex, so do need to sure. I haven't yet had a pair of slouchy pants; I haven't found a pair that feel right. I think your approach to wait and see sounds good.

I actually really like the outfit and the blazer looks really good on you. The comfort is another issue though, if you feel it is less than perfect, you should wait for the perfect one.

Definitely too tight, but I like the idea of the plaid.

Plaid looks great on you but you need to feel great in a jacket, so send this one back.

A plaid pantsuit would be amazing for your 40s-influenced style! Definitely hold out.

I do have the same fit issue with woven blazers and that’s one reason I don’t wear them at all!

Yes I have the same fit issues and I usually just deal with the tightness under the arms. (The tightness is only there when arms are lifted.)

I think the blazer looks like it has the right proportions, and looks good with your pants.

I would probably wear this with skinnies, just because there’s added bulk at the top. It is not the trendiest look, I’ll admit, though the length of the blazer makes it trendy enough.

I like the length of a long blazer on you, but don’t settle. I have worn blazers casually with slouchy jeans and a graphic tee and flats.

I think you can really wear this style well, but not this particular one. The fit is off. But overall, it's a great look for you.
