BR city chinos: what do you think?

I was returning some things at the mall last night and ended up bringing home the city chinos is olive and navy. I really wanted them in white, but they were far too see-through for my comfort level. I only want to keep them if I can figure out how to style them for our hot weather, which means sleeveless or short-sleeve tops and no toppers.

Here are several combinations of tops, belts, and sandals. Do any of these work to your eye? Which do you prefer? Do you think I should keep both pair, none, only olive, only navy?

thanks for your thoughts. I admit that I always *think* that wearing chinos will somehow transform me into Gwyneth Paltrow, and the fact that it doesn't may be coloring my view of them ; ). I never quite look as cute as I think I ought to.

I second Vicki, I love all the outfits with the navy chinos! The others are nice too, but if you only want to keep one pair I'd go with the navy.

I also really like the navy pair. There's nothing wrong with the olive ones, but something about the navy looks dressier to me. And I love 7 and 8 of the outfits.

Love those chinos! I like 4, 7 and 8 the best. I like the more voluminous tops with the chinos. I also like the low contrast between the white tee and the white belt. My preference is for navy vs olive too. But I'm a blue-lover and not so much for the "muddy" colours.

I like the olive with the white top. All navy combinations look great.

Go get the white and wear with nude-for-you boy-shorts. They really aren't so see-through. (I have seen them on clients). 73 year Karen has two pairs in white and she is a very modest dresser. FWIW, trust me on this.

Angie, I was thinking about Karen. Did she cut the pockets out? I had nude boy shorts on when I tried them, and the pockets were so glaringly obvious. Sigh. I'm glad you like the fit.

No, she didn't. The pockets are still there and just look darker on the skin. The fit is NOT tight at all though. It's just a pocket outline that doesn't pull. The pockets aren't revealing an area of the body. On the contrary. You are very covered.

OK, maybe I'll give them another try. I certainly did like them a lot.

Kelly, I do have a silver belt, but it's rather "silver" - wish it were more muted.

It's interesting that you all like 8. I was thinking that didn't work at all, but perhaps it's because I think that EF sweater would work so much better with the white chinos ; )

I like them both. But I'm a huge navy fan, and a recent convert to olive. I'm also a recent white convert, so I'd love to see those as well.

I like both colors and both are basic so they will be very versatile.I bought them in khaki.

If you have to keep one, I vote navy. Certainly more versatile than olive. That EF top is gorgeous on you. I am trying hard to resist these chinos but your pics are making it very hard.

Sarah, is the EF top true to size? On Nordstrom's website reviews suggest sizing up.

These fit you so well! The olive with white tee and belt is a great look. I like all of the navy versions, but especially with the EF top. The blue looks the same color as your eyes. Gorgeous!

JAileen, yes, I had to size up - I normally wear a SP or an XS in regular sizing. I found the petite a bit short for me (very unusual), and the arms a bit tight, so I sized up to a regular size S.
