BR black lace skirt - day to night (party)

Hi everyone! I wore my black skirt to see the Met Museum’s Heavenly Bodies exhibition tonight (opening party for members).

I decided to wear the outfit to work with my olive jacket and metallic sneakers. Then in the evening, I switched in the silver shoes and bag, and took off the jacket (I also wore running shoes and a raincoat to the museum, since there were thunderstorms). I had compliments from strangers on the bag and shoes.

I’m including a photo of Mr. Christina, who was exited that the cocktail party took place at the Temple of Dendur.

The exhibit is marvelous. If you’re in NYC while it’s on, please do attend. The items from the Vatican alone are worth seeing and rarely exhibited. The fashion items on display are the icing on the cake, and are beautifully framed by the Met’s Medieval and Byzantine galleries.

Fabulous day to night, Christina! Mr. C. looks perfectly at home in the august setting! Don't you love that fashion sneakers allow us to be comfy AND stylish? And that unusual outfit juxtaposition makes it easier to go day-to-evening?

I have to say, Suz, that those Ecco sneakers are one of my top purchases ever. I almost want to duplicate them. Much of the time they’re the exact right level of dressy I want to be for work. Shiny shoes are sooo versatile, in general.

I also think my wardrobe has reached peak mixability. This allowed me to put together the morning outfit on the fly. It used to be that I’d think of things on the fly, but the combos wouldn’t really go together.

Diana, we were dying over the reception location. Usually it's in the Petrie sculpture court, but this space is closer to the Costume Institute.

Bijou, the sneakers are definitely a top purchase. The bag doesn't get to come out to play much, but I love it.

Janet, it's definitely worth the trip! Haven't seen Bowie yet but would like to.

Do you see this skirt going into Fall? thinking October wedding.

CJ - YES! I think you may want hosiery in that case. It's more of a stretchy fabric than a thick one, which is one reason I love it. I don't think I'd wear it in the winter, but October would be just fine.

thank you! one more question if you don't mind . . . is this skirt true to size or would you size down one or up one? Reviews indicated some sized down, others tts. I am 5'7" 138 lbs. if that helps.

I took it TTS because that gives me some ease around my belly, which I really need. Since others took it a size down, I figure that's the reason why didn't. I often can't size down in pencil skirts because I have issues with bloating, etc. Hope that helps!

Wow! You look great! I love the BR skirt, and your bag and shoes add some fun to this outfit. I have fond memories of chasing my nephew around the Temple of Dendur. The room was empty when we were there except for a guard......it’s a big space if your a 6 year old with energy!

Does New York get a lot of rain - you have mentioned thunderstorms and rain a couple of times - I always think of New York as being snowy in mid winter and hot in summer but not wet. But I should not base my opinions of New York on television shows and movies:)

Wow, love the lace skirt dressed down, and again the use of the metallic shoes even if casual, they perk up any outfit! I do have 2 white lace skirts, one maxi and one knee length and always do the same, dress them down and love!

Sal, this was a month ago, and we had a wet few weeks in spring. The rain tends to happen for a few weeks at a atime then stop. Now that it’s June, we’ve had little rain. Winter can be snowy or not, depending on the year.
