I was going to sit out NAS. But I have a little Birthday money, and a goal to improve the quality of my boots. In my view, inexpensive Summer sandals are a blessing, but the same type of materials and construction in a bootie or tall boot is less appealing, comfortable an durable.

So......

1. Blondos: Love these, but they go back. They will make it over my bare legs, but the leather band at the top is not stretching enough to wear with pants. I actually like my muscular calves. I don't consider them a flaw, but apparently I'm hard to fit. Curiously, my cheapy black tall boots fit fine.

2/3 Munro Robyn: I sized up 1/2 size --- for depth and width (I have a slightly "high volume" foot). Love these, and they're very comfy. My questions for wiser YLFers: Would I be better looking for a leather burgundy booty? Is suede limiting and likley to wear poorly? (sorry about the blurry pics). Even on sale, these are twice what I used to spend on booties.

I love the color (deeper than the photo) and the fit is nice, although I sized up one size to have a more relaxed fit. It's Merino, but even on sale it's $50. Shall I keep because the color is fab and Merino is worth it? Or shall I run to Costoc for MaryK's cardis?

You can weatherproof suede no problem. I live in Seattle! I know all about that type of thing. The Munros look heavenly on your feet. I know they FEEL heavenly too.

The cardi and booties are first class. I like. I also really love your purple/white dot top there and the blue pencil.

Love the Munros and think weatherproofing will be fine.

Those Blondo boots are deceptive. There is not much stretch at all across the top.

I am thrilled if I bat 50/50 on footwear.

I have the same Munros, so I am biased about loving them The color is so rich and lovely, and I love that they are cut to go with dresses and skirts as well as pants.

As for the cardi, I can't do much wool, but if you can, merino is worth the investment. It stays looking nice and is warm without being too warm.

Those Munros are gorgeous all around - color and shape are terrific on you. Subtly glamorous. Sorry the Blondos didn't work out.

Thanks for weighing in everyone! I'm supposing there may be a post or two about weatherproofing footwear in the archive --- I'll check it out. I do love that the Munros go with skirts and pants, and I think the deep burgundy will add a little flair to mostly black and grey ensembles.

Thistle: The cardigan is so soft and light that I didn't even realize it was Merino until I checked the details online after purchasing it. I don't usually do wool, but I'm had such issues with other cardis pilling and stretching out recently, except for my not-from-nature fiber Walmart cardi. It will never die. It will survive a nuclear holocaust, which is a little scary, but I'm still loving it.

Your outfit in #1 is fantastic. You will find the right fitting boots, this is one where second best doesn't cut it right?

Beth Ann, joining in to say that the Munros look divine on you. Great color too.

To me, a V-neck cardi with pockets is not the same article of clothing as a crew neck. I can't wear them the same way at all. So if the one you linked is working, there's no way a Costco one can replace it.

The Munros are nice, aren't they? They look great on you and are nice to pet. I returned mine because they are about .25" too high for my fussy right toe and the color is slightly too warm for my wardrobe, and they are more for my fantasy life. This is a new style for Munro, so I'm hoping they will bring out additional colors in the next few years like they seem to be doing with their slipper flats.

Love the tall boots on you. Be happy you can buy standard retail tall boots that look that fab. Some can't (me).

Fab burgundy booties. I stay on top of weatherproofing suede and make out fine in the winter. I do avoid wearing them when it snows though, I don't want salt getting on the suede.

The Munros are absolutely divine on you and I am so excited because we might end up being bootie twins if they work for me. They're gorgeous. Super flattering and such a lovely colour.

I am sad about the Blondos. From this distance they look so fab. But if they do not feel fab, then they are not "the ones." Back they go.

The cardigan looks like a great purchase. Good merino wool is well worth the price. It is soft, not scratchy, durable, doesn't pill much, and lasts. I have a merino turtleneck that I wear about once a week in winter and it is still going strong 3 years in.

I love merino. I have a lot of it and find it worth the price for breathebility and warmth in featherweight. $50 seems a good price for it... I actually dont have much left in swrters that arent merino or cashmere so be forewarned it may cost more than$50 when you decide you dont want anything elsr. Rae used a spray on her suede trench and might ring in with the brand. Love the booties

Lovelovelove the booties. I wanted those but knew I couldn't do that much heel.
I vote to keep the merino cardigan. I find its V neck so much easier to wear than a crew neck like that on the Cosco cardi. Did you get the turquoise color? It looks like it would match your skirt.

You look so fab in that blue skirt, too. I am a fan of the Halogen merino wool sweaters. If it's a color you'll wear a lot, I vote keep. This year's style is a shorter version of the boyfriend sweater they had for the past few years. I have three of those and reach for them very often. I'm pretty sensitive to wool on my skin, but surprisingly I can wear these over bare arms--they feel like wool, but do not itch me for some reason. So they are three-season sweaters for me. However, they are not pill-free. After quite a bit of wear, my two oldest ones do have some pills. Compared to other sweaters of this quality, I still think these are a fantastic value.

Lisa: Thanks for sharing your experience with suede. I have to remember that, while I live in a snowy climate, I live in a car-centric universe, and don't commute on foot. That should help!

It's just going to be 70 degrees tomorrow. Think I can get away with red suede in July...................
