I have already found a great pair of cognac and a great pair of black boots. However, my black boots have a heel, so I feel like I need one more pair (at least one more for now) of boots that are more comfortable.
I'm heading to the Northwest for the holidays and needed a pair that could be really versatile and weather appropriate.
After scouring five websites and hundreds of boots, I found these.

Does anyone have experience with these or KC boots? I personally think my style is a little more...different? But the other boots I considered might be too tricky.
I've thought about trying Docs but I'm afraid they wouldn't fit over jeans for me, and I really love this style

No advice here for you, but I will be watching your thread. I am on the boot hunt, too. We are going skiing next month, and I have been trying to find a great boot for wearing on the plane, apres ski, etc. I almost caved in and bought Uggs. (Sorry, Ugg fans!)

I love the idea of Docs on you. I would think the laces could be adjusted so you can get them over jeans--I'd definitely get the ones with the full zip and laces.

FWIW, I have a pair of Wanted boots--I wear too often. They are roomy and rather heavy--not the most comfortable but they've held up great over the years.

Of your selections, I like the Born the best.

Oh funny, I JUST bought those boots during the holiday sale despite thinking the same thing re "ummmm...I think my style is a bit different than these moon boots" and they have been on my feet 2/4 days. I was especially dubious about the gores.

My heeled leather boots are bought for comfort but I wanted a pair that would (hopefully) be supercomfy and decent in slush/on ice.

And they really are SO COMFORTABLE. I don't love the non-breathability, but I'm making do. Ironically I've gotten several compliments on them, but then I'm in the PNW, so....You'd fit in when you get here!

Have worn with skirts for a more casual look as well as dress pants/jeans.

However -- are you one of those small-calf posters? Because these are actually the first pair I've ever had where I have a scootch of room (and the gores/velcro tab at top means they could handle bigger). If you want to wear over skinnys then they'd prob be perfect. Also -- said velco can catch on tights if you cross your legs.

I've had great luck with Born boots, Sarah. FYI that they run a bit big (about the same as Fryes). I take either a 9 or 9.5, but always a 9 in Borns.

I think my Frye engineer boots have a finish similar to the Borns you've shown. They are great in sloppy weather. I clean off any salt stains with a soft rag dipped in a mixture of one tablespoon white vinegar to one cup water. Once in a while I clean them with saddle soap or apply a little mink oil if they look dry.

ps Color/finish of "Cloud" is quite cool IMO -- a brownish grey crackle-y finish with a sheen to it.

I don't know, Angie. I think they're 13" but that sounds small? The Maryns are 14.25" and fit perfectly over jeans. I'm going to take those, I just don't want to ruin them... And I want a blackish option (preferably gray) too.

My calves are 13", so if yours are 13" all of those would be too big.

Stylewise I love the KC ones, but that's just my bias. Somehow I can't picture Docs as part of your style, but it would definitely be a contrast. The Born ones seem the most "you" to me.

Yeah Maya, that's why I thought that was too small. I need to measure more accurately when I get home. They've shrunk a little, but not THAT much I don't think.

I love the KC lace up's. Have you tried the Doc's? I think you would love them.
The Boutique Nine's in Angies's store are great too.

I'd love to see tall Doc's on you. With all of the colors and finishes I bet there is one that fits your style while giving it a bit of a twist.
All of the boots you've shown are great looking. Do you prefer leather or other materials? It looks like you've chosen some of each.

Love those Boutique 9 lace-ups! Lace-ups seem like a great option if you have slim calves and like that rugged look. Sadly, I just returned those Frye Missy tall wedge boots--they were super comfortable and beautiful, but too big in the calf for me, so I'm guessing they might be too big for you too.

Ack, I don't have narrow calves! Heh. I guessed on the 13", but it's actually 14". My cognac boots are the Steve Madden Maryns that are 14.25", so those would be too big for you.

I had considered getting the Worth Ur While boots, but I read in reviews that they are taller than most knee-high boots. I don't know how tall you are, but it would have cut into the backs of my knees.

Rae, interesting about the KC W Ur W boot reviews...I don't find them particularly high and I have proportionately short calves.

i really like the 2 kc ones. not sure why but they seem the most appropriate for the pacific northwest.

I think the Borns are more ME in general, but I can see how useful the KC wedges could be practical for the Northwest winters. I will only be there a week, so the boots would have to be useful to me here at home, too. I could potentially be overthinking this, too. I just want to feel fab and be able to walk around for a few hours and not worry about the elements destroying my boots.
If it were you, what order would you order these to try?

Sarah, I think a pair of lace-up boots would be killer on you. They are a bit different from your usual style, but I bet you could do all kinds of fun things with them. Both the Boutique 9 and the Kenneth Cole lace-ups are fab in my opinion.

Your style is very streamlined, a lace up boot would be a big departure in my eyes for you. But take that with a grain of salt, I have much to learn here.

So I saw the Born's in person at Macys over the weekend and they are DElicious! So much lovely texture, and the color is such a pretty soft, taupey brown.
I want those for sure.
I'm still torn on the KC Worth Ur While. The style is perfect. I want a flat black/gray boot that is weather appropriate, but I'm not sure those are the ones. Docs measure smaller than my calf width, so those are unfortunately out.
