Body type for a bigger girl?

Hi girls, I found this site yesterday and I'm LOVING it! I've never been very fashion conscious and had no idea how to dress for my body type. I took a picture below so you gals can help me figure out what it is -- And no, this shirt is not something I'd go out in (doesn't fit anymore) but it was a fitted shirt so you can see what I'm working with. I'm not sure if I did my measurements right as I'm not sure where I measured at is my "actual" waist -- I measured the smallest part which is about 2 inches above my belly button, and thus, my measurements were this:

46-40-47

Thanks girls! I just looked at the picture again and I have to say, I HATE how if you have a big chest and wear a tight shirt (even if to show your body shape) it looks nearly pornographic!! LOL trust me when I say I don't wear it!!

It's hard to tell body type from that picture- you really need a full body shot with your arms at your sides to see for sure. It's not easy to get those, I know.

Is this better? Sorry for the muffin top and floppy boobs - I changed bras so as not to wear one that hangs out of the shirt!

Thanks! I think the tight clothes are making me look more of an apple than I am, lol, I thought apples didn't have smaller waists than their hips?

Apples can have a smaller waist than their hips. I did when I was apple shaped.

So I guess next I need to figure out what clothes look good on me -- draw the attention down, I guess? I do have good legs... any advice?

Heidi, I'm also an apple and post some of my outfits here: http://www.absolutelyapple.blogspot.com. Might give you some ideas. I don't have much of a bust though. For me I focus on camouflaging my belly... that's my goal when I get dressed each morning.

Marianna, I just checked out your blog, I LOVE how you dress! But I am jealous because I can't get away with the cute tops you can -- I have a hard time making my boobs like good in any shirts Also, I saw you had a moto jacket and I'm seeing those are pretty common/popular around here and I think they're SO adorable -- but can us big chested girls get away with them??

Heidi, I'm no expert, but I'm 100000% positive you can find cute shirts to fit your bust! You may have to go up a size and then take in the waist and do some alterations. Actually, often times shirts are too big in the bust for me... and most plus size women DO have larger busts, so you shouldn't have any issues. Where are you shopping? I'd recommend checking out the pus size INC department at Macy's and Lane Bryant to start with. Torrid too. Nordstrom is GREAT too but more expensive.

Women with big busts can absolutely wear moto jackets! It's all about finding the right style. Michelle and I have the same moto jacket and we're built very differently, but the jacket looks fab on both of us.

You are adorable! It's indeed difficult to find a moto jacket that fits on a big bust, but not impossible you just have to look.

Dresses and tunics are also great. Don't look at the price, you can always find cheaper options, this is only exemples of flattering dresses for busty women:

Welcome, Heidi! You've received some great advice as to places on the site to check. For shirts that fit a big bust, be sure to check out the Carissa Rose ad along the right side of this page. These shirts are a big hit with several members who have tried them. There is also a blog entry about them but the company had a different name then:

Welcome, Heidi, from another Big Girl! This is sort of off-topic, but something that I think is really important for us larger busted gals. Have you been fitted for a bra at a good place? I thought I was wearing the right size (38DDD) but got measured and found out my cup size is much bigger. I didn't realize that my bras didn't fit me right and that's why I wasn't getting the best support I could. The right bra makes everything fit better and often makes me look slimmer!

I also wanted to echo that I have the same denim moto jacket as Marianna from Lane Bryant and I love it. Don't be scared of them!
