I finally got around to getting my summer pedicure yesterday - now that it's finally heated up here and I am wearing sandals nearly every day. I departed from my usual red toenails and went for blue. A very pretty, purple-ish blue. I was dubious about this look (makes me think one's toes look like they are freezing off!) .... but lo and behold... I am surprising myself .... I like it very much!

Now I just wish I had silver or white sandals... they'd look even better.

The woman at the nail salon said that blue is THE pedicure color of the season... various shades from light blue to nearly black. Interestingly, all of the nail technicians were sporting white toes. I like the white too so that may be what I try next.

I'm like you USED to be - classic red or a dark berry almost all the time. When I do my own toes I do a mid shade shimmery mauve because it is a foolproof shade.
Was looking at an OPI purple yesterday and I have a feeling I will go purple next.

That’s all I ever wear – blue or green in all shades on my toes. I do not do red, pink, orange or purple of any description. Very occasionally I’ll do a pearly white.

Out of curiosity, Angie, why the aversion to pink or red?
I'm the opposite, haven't worn anything other than red in varying shades on my toes for awhile.. But I'd definitely consider a purply-blue!

Angie, yes you did inspire me! You know how I always initially reject an idea, then end up giving it a whirl and liking it if not outright loving it. You keep me on my toes.

I am not about to give up my blue-reds just yet though: that is probably still my favorite choice for toes. But I do like this for a change. I think I would also love white, but I am wearing so much white this summer, I figured I needed something different.

I do not care for anything orange or pink on my toes. I think because it reminds me 1) of the 80s and 2) of my kids, who will paint their nails all colors of the rainbow. Or reds that have too much orange in them. Green... weirds me out... makes me think of toe fungus!! LOL. But I am not going to say "never".....

For fingernails, french manicure is my hands-down favorite. My second favorite is a three-way tie between:

1. a classic blue red (preferably with nails on the short side

2. a pearly nude (hard to find just the right shade, but makes my fingers look longer!)

3. Surprisingly... the deep blue I did this past February, which was nearly black.

My toes are coral, a change from mother-of-pearl white from past years.
I'd rather not draw attention to my feet. Do you suppose an unusual polish color causes feet to be noticed or distracts from feet because the color is what is noticed?

Color on my toes makes me shudder, but on my hands I have always preferred obnoxious colors. Purples and blues are my favorite, and I happily wear neons too (which I know all of you hate but I don't care :p).

I have never used red, nude, or pink, or any other "normal" colors. I like white, but for some reason I haven't found a good formula. It never seems to dry properly.

Oh, Michelle! No aversion at all! Red, purple, orange and pink toes look KILLER if that’s your thing. It’s just not my thing. People know me by my Kenzo Flower perfume, pearls, tough-edge items, blonde hair and blue toes. It’s been a signature look for years and years and years. I enjoy and feel no need to change it. But I’ll keep you posted when I do.

I am wearing OPI's "Nomad's Dream" on my toes, which is an irridescent warm nude color. It's so pretty and neutral but still interesting. Plus, it's hard to see chips if I don't have time to redo my toes right away. If I'm not wearing nude, I like dark colors, but usually just during the fall/winter months. Even though it's warm outside, it's nice to wear fall colors for a change.

I usually don't wear nail polish on my fingers because I don't have a lot of time to fix or redo manicures, so they end up looking kind of ragged if they are painted. But, recently I've worn OPI's Southbeach Collection in "Sand in my Suit" and it's great! It's a shimmery nude color, very neutral, and doesn't show chips as much either.

Thanks Ana, I'm going to have to give those OPI nudes a try. Do you think they'll work on someone with fair skin but with red/blue undertones? I also love the nudes for my fingers because you can't see the chips so much. I did not get my fingernails done yesterday, because I knew that it would be a waste of money, since I usually chip them pretty quickly!

I usually wear a pinkish-nude shade on my toes, very neutral ( Essie Madmoiselle). For dance competitions I need to do a bright deep red, and than it is OPI's 'I am nor really a waitress'. All this talk about bold blue shades are inspiring me to try something different too. I do not think I could pull of blue, but I am thinking of a very, very deep purple ( not irridescent), that is almost black.

Shiny, "Sand in my Suit" definitely would work. It's very neutral. "Nomad's Dream" might work, as it changes colors a bit (irridescent), but I would describe the overall tone as "warm." I'd hold the bottle up to your hand and see what you think.

On my toes I'm wearing Custom Kicks from China Glaze - a teal with fine gold shimmer (which is hardly noticeable, especially on toes). I also adore their Sky High Top blue from the same collection.

As for my fingers, I like all kinds of berries, blues, greens, dusty muted purples. I'm loving Orly's Mint Mojito this spring and summer (despite application issues). It's my perfect light green! Not too cool, not too warm, luscious, but not too bright.

For the last year I was on a huge mushroomy kick with muted purples and greys. Love the greys in theory, not so much on me.

I don't make a conscious effort to wear what's trendy, but I do like to try all the new colors that become available (and usually in better formulations). I'm surprised and delighted that blue is still going strong because there's more to choose from. I'm also glad to see more greens, and I'm hoping it will hit big this fall after Chanel introduces its jade green. I'm not prepared to spend that much on a bottle of nail polish, but it's still nice to see it.

There are lots of beautiful purples on the market, snatch them up ladies!

YES. Chanel is ALL OVER a rich jade green for Autumn and Winter, Lena. I want a coat and moto waistcoat that colour.

Tanya, there are quite a few purples without shimmer. Zoya has lots of deep rich purples (they sell mostly online. It's a good brand, though). MAC will have a grape purple coming out in late August. Can't wear toenail polish at mo as got a dodgy toenail
I have always favoured dark colours on toes such as a cherry red almost black or deep red.
Am into painting fingernails at mo had hair cut last Wednesday and sneeked in my first ever manicure at the same time. Have painted them purple this afternoon! x

Hmm, I tend to be quite tame with my toes, and like more "colour" on my fingers. For some reason I just don't like the look of dark colours on my feet- I feel like they draw attention to my toes, which are not my favourite feature.

So, I tend to wear pale nudes and pinks (I'm another fan of Essie Mademoiselle!), though this summer I've also been sporting some bright corals and peaches, too.

My fingers are another story. I also wear nudes and pinks on them, but am also more likely to sport black, navy, dark plum, bright red, etc. I am definitely looking forward to trying some greens (my fave colour!) for fall, though I'd prefer something a touch darker than the Chanel green- I hate pastels on me.

I like Essie and OPI polishes for high-end, and Bourjois and Rimmell for low. One colour that I come back to over the years is actually a Rimmell one called Zeitgeist. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like an oil slick: purpley- black with a green sheen from some angles. It's very cool and always gets comments

Would you wear it on your hands or toes? I would expect it looks its best in direct light.

If jade green is coming for autumn I am a happy person. I got an Anthropology booklet yesterday and my mouth fell open for a deep jade green blouse called Buoyant Chiffon Blouse on page 18. Such a gorgeouse deep dark green. I would try that color on my toes too. I don't do my nails because it would never stay on and I have just started doing my toes in the past couple of years. Usually I use a deep berry or mauve color.

I have a very conservative palette when it comes to nail color for my manicure and pedicure (I do them both myself.) I only use soft pinks, nudes, opaque white, deep dark burgundy red and true, pin-up red (and matching lipstick!). Anything else seems almost unnatural, very unlike me. However, I was at our little neighborhood cosmetics store last week and I saw a beautiful, bright purple by OPI. I couldn't stop thinking about it; I went back and purchased it the next day and I have been wearing it since. The color is called "A Grape Fit!" and I love it very much. My husband really liked it too and complemented me on it. Every time I look down at my toes it makes me smile!:)

I've always gone with pearly whites on my toes until this past summer. I'm wearing an iridescent pinky rose shade right now by Essie called Brandie Alexander which is very summery looking.

I love to experiment with my toe color so I will wear everything from corals & pinks to blues, greens, purple and even orange! Right now I am wearing am iridescent purple/olive green shade (looks better than it sounds, really!). It's actually a really old bottle of Urban Decay (remember that brand??) hence the double color. I was surprised that it was still good so I decided to go ahead and put it on. My hands are usually bare or I will just use a nude/pink shade for special occasions. Too much upkeep with two kids and all the hand washing. I used to love to wear darker shades on my hands but the last time I did that was in the 90's with Chanel Vamp! I guess that look is coming back now...

Silver toes here. Either that or a pearly white. Pearly white looks wonderful if your feet are a little tan, with silver sandals. Silver toes -- well they go with everything

But you all are making me curious about a really dark green polish. That could be yummy for fall.

I usually don't paint my nails - maybe once a year. But I wanted to say, I really like that new Chanel green. I would love to get something in that color. And my jade necklace will have to come out this fall.

Shana, I really like Chanel Vamp. I use that on my toes in the fall and winter months.
