My toe nail polish changes depending on my mood. Currently my toes are a light purple/greyish color. I'm due for a pedi and was planning on a bright blue.

Are Marianne and I the only ones here who don't paint their nails?

Mine are a bluey red at the moment.

I can't paint my fingernails in anything but clear or a very light pink as my nails are very flexible and the polish - no matter what brand chips off very quickly. I would rather the nude buffed look than chipped polish. Years of competitive swimming, waterpolo and then 3 years as a swimming teacher and coach effectively ruined them I think.

Green sounds really interesting though!

My nail colours of choice are:

1) Dark Purple

2) Bright Orange

3) Neon Green

These are all colours that I can't wear on my hands because they are way too dark or bright but I can get away with them on my feet because very few people ever see them.

Right now, my fingernails are painted what I would call Barbie pink. I like Rimmel and Bourjois nail polishes as they're cheap and cheerful.

My toe colors of choice are reds, pinks, corals, and dark maroons for winter. I haven't tried any greens or blues and I haven't seen one that makes me want to try it yet. But purple I've been thinking about.

I hardly ever paint my fingernails because it's just too much trouble. They chip too much. But if I do, I always go for a neutral for the best chip camouflage.

OOh I just saw somethign online about how to do a leopard print look for your nails. I may have to try that for my toes!

I'm wearing OPI "In My Back Pocket" on my toes (creamsicle orange) and OPI "We'll Always Have Paris" (dark raisin/purple) on my fingers. I have to keep my nails short, and I love the look of short, dark fingernails.
I do not own any blue polish, sadly. I used to have a jade green color. I mostly wear nudes, purples, dark reds, and coral oranges.

Angie and Lena:

The Chanel "Jade" green is actually a minty, light pistachio shade...very romantic looking. This is what it looks like in the bottle:

Here is the Chanel Fall/Winter collection, where all of the models are wearing "Jade":

At $25 a bottle, it ain't cheap. But I found a similar color from a line sold at Whole Foods. It's No-Miss Nail Polish in "Jenson Beach Jade." I'm wearing it on my toes right now, to test it out. It is lighter IRL than the picture indicates. And at $7 a bottle, I think it's a great option to get the look for less! I still need to clean up my paint job, but you'll get the idea. Here it is on my toes in direct and indirect sunlight:

I am also a fan of Zoya Nail Polish. I wear a sheer pink called "Sabrina" on my nails for editorial work. I wear a rich red called "Diana" occasionally. I love their dark purple called "Casey", which looks a lot like Chanel's "Vamp," but costs much less. I am interested in getting Zoya's "Envy", which is a darker green shade; and "Ibiza", which is a dark blue. Here they are:

I am so bad at remembering the names of the NP I buy! Like some here I very rarely paint my fingernails because the color just doesn't last long enough and I am too lazy for frequent re-applications. I do love painting my toenails though. Currently I have on a pearly pale pink which was a drugstore find (Sally Hansen?) This formulation has proven to be chip resistant for much longer than other drugstore finds. When I was in undergrad school (and much less self conscious and more "daring") I would wear Angie-blue :-), shimmery green, silver and something called "Technoberry" very frequently. This was 10 yrs ago in India, which made for a lot of "What's wrong with your toes?" comments It just spurred me on to continue wearing bold colors. Several years later my daring has been dumbed down and I have been preferring nude and pale pink shades or French pedicures. Though lately I have acquired a few shocking berry shades.

I'm wearing a clear bright fushia on my toes, and had been wearing purple before that. I paint dd's fingers and toes this weekend and let her pick and she chose the purple polish ... very cute on those little piggies!

I can't maintain any polish on my fingers. Between doing dishes, treating laundry, and bathing the kiddos, no polish stands up to that much exposure to water. If I were a kept woman, I'd do a vampy red though.

Anne, I only do my fingernails a few times a year, mostly for special occasions. If I have a job interview, I'll get them done - makes me feel more polished. But it's not worth doing any more frequently because I end up chipping them too quickly. (And no, I can't do my own - I am a complete klutz at it). I have been getting occasional manicures for decades.

As for toes, I get them done for the summer, when it's time for sandals. Unlike manicures which are easy to chip, one pedicure can last for months. I know you're not supposed to go that long... but I do!

But I only started getting pedicures just a few years ago. I don't know what took me so long, tickly feet? Once you have one, you get addicted. I don't really enjoy having my feet tickled, but I just adore having a pretty color on my toes.

Give it a try!

I like the Chanel jade green a lot. The OPI "Get in Lime" looks a little bit like that:

I am only guessing based on the pictures, I didn't see either in real life but this blogger seems to agree.

Thanks, Leslie. I was actually thinking of the darker green that's being showcased on the accessory side of Chanel right now. Kate Moss has been adorned by their jewelry this month and I LOVE the colour. But I adore that minty green colour too!

I’ve just bought navy toe nail polish and it’s going on my toes tomorrow.

Such a fun topic, guess what color I have been using for years?
A beautiful shade of reddish brown; neutral and very earthy. I would never wear a bright color although can thoroughly enjoy it on others. I hardly ever paint my fingernails, as an artist it would be a waste. Toenails, every summer the same color. I do not feel right with anything else.

Nothing or just a nude shade on my fingers. It chips too quickly to make sense to wear a real colour on my hands and I actually prefer the look of nude fingernails. But toes are always a warm brick red or a deep pink: no shimmer, no sparkles. I've tried brighter colours on my feet but I always revert to the classics.

I thought the mid-tone gray nail polish that was trendy last winter looked beautiful on a variety of people... just not on me, alas.
