I find this electric blue skirt a bit challenging in terms of pairing it with a topper. For date night this evening I matched it up with a cream sweater and was happy with the contrast and the ‘lightness’ of the outfit. The skirt is so swishy, such a treat to wear.
Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on styling!

Definitely your (1) neon green sweater for colour-blocking (2) orange sneakers and a pristine white top (3) black and white mariner stripe t…I’ll come back with some more ideas.

Edited to add: I used to have a cobalt pencil skirt (loved it) and it was a workhorse. I wore it with a yellow sleeveless top, various mariner stripe T’s, black sweaters, a blue and white striped button down and a pink, blue and white floral with a white jean jacket (9 years ago and one of my top 10 favourite outfits!)

I love that color. I have a hard time with my skirt that’s that blue, because I tend to wear pattern on the bottom, solids on top, but this outfit works for me.

From your finds: I’d love to see it with the Boden top. You could make a two-piece blue dress that would look just like the blue dress you already own. You could wear the Purdey light blue/floral blouse with that or with the pale blue top. I know the lilac doesn’t match match, but might be fun.

Btw, to get to your finds, where I saw your self-description. It reminded me a comment a certain dude made to me recently: “ you live for the water probably more than the fish do, so I totally get that. :-)”. So high five—er, fin. High fin!

Love it - blue wristband/watch as perfect accessory! I've got the yellow one from BR and might be keeping the blue as well ( a bit bright for me but I love that color and subtle print ).
I was planing to pair it with sleeveless rayon tops with some white, black and blue prints, linen white and black top, lots of graphic tees.

The 80s me goes straight to black. Of course white/cream is perfect as well. Harder to pull off, but if you could find a shirt in the same or similar cobalt that would be excellent

We saw some islands in Greece with painted that blue and the stucco was very white. Quite an inspiration. On Canada Day could you wear red white and blue? Besides white and red you could try pale blush, metallics, and browns. I used coral and white with capris that color and felt it was ok. Mint green comes to mind and yellow is across the color wheel from blue.

I can see why your cobalt skirt made your top 10 list Carla!Gorgeous! And thank you for the fabulous inspo ideas and pics. That mariner top made me think of my black and white vest….

High fin right back to you Fash! And thank you for virtually combing my closet. Some of these combos I tried a few years ago when I first got the skirt, but you’ve inspired me to revisit them. It’s funny how you can try something initially and reject it, but then your eye adjusts.

Thanks Janet, I’ll go head to toe bold on occasion, but like you, I also like toning it down and letting that one bold element shine on its own.

You can’t beat swoosh factor Angie! I’ll need to get some chartreuse in there! The trick can be the footwear and bag complement.

That Boden top was what i was looking for in your finds—I thought you had it. Along the way I came across that light blue top & the scarf with the blues in it. I love that idea—think that bright blue in the skirt cries out “contrast!” so any brights would go. Being contrary, and a water lover, I think it’d be cool to splash around in some different blues to make a monochromatic mix, a gentler, harmonious look for days when you want to flow like a brook.

Lovely skirt on you .I'd try a cognac (or print with cognac) top that works with the sandals you are wearing in the photo.

Lovely skirt and I think it is best with cream or white. Just right. This color is difficult for me too on the bottom half. I had a pair of sandals in this colour and I struggled to wear them even though I loved them.
