Blue drapy dress variations

I tried out some variations today. I was in the shade for some pictures so won't include them.
Please excuse no make up,Post jog face and squinting eyes!

I like 1 and 2 best, then 5, but the back view looks like it needs work. I also like the way you wore it in your previous post.
It's worth playing with, because if you get just one look that you love, you can keep wearing it that way. Sometimes garments that have variations end up being like that for me--there's one way I like best, and I just ignore the others.

Thanks Sharan and plonkee. I like the first one too - that's the dress worn backwards which was suggested on my other thread.

I also liked the wider waist band look of 5.

I do think the back gives me pause on all of them. I don't look at my back much and am always surprised at my shoulders. I really look like an IT from the back (whereas I am actually a pear with rectangle secondary) and I feel as if it might look more proportional if the dress was longer.

Don't hesitate to say if you don't think I should keep the dress at all. I'm not wedded to it in any way!

I love #1. This looks modern and interesting. If you think you will ear it like this I would definitely keep and I think it's worth keeping.

Backwards! What a great idea.
Just out of curiosity, is it a Sacha Drake dress? It looks like a nice weight of fabric which I imagine feels nice to wear.

#1/2! I think the higher neckline is very flattering to your shoulder and bust area, and the color is nice near your face. You also won't need a cami, and won't have to worry about the shifting fabric as you go through your day.

Sunshine on the patio looks lovely!

I love nr 1, but kind of see it's too much fiddling with the straps, no matter they are front or back. Can you somehow shorten them perhaps for a better coverage on the bra straps(if worn backwards) or the neckline (if worn to front)?

It looks best to me in #1 and 2 -- but is it shorter in back than in the front, or is that just the camera angle?

Love #1-2. You look great in that type of boat-neck style.
I would agree with Firecracker also--be the boss of the dress and don't think it has to be used as the chameleon dress of many wrappings. Instead wear it and try different footwear, wear it summery for warm weather, & might even try lightweight cropped leggings + some kind of cardi you experiment with for MOTG look in slightly cool weather.

Anne, just to clarify: I think your back looks fine. I was just looking at the tying and crossing of the dress in the back on 6 and I would want to neaten it up somehow.

I am quite happy to just find the best way to wear this dress and go with that

I think we all agree that the back to front neckline is the best. I'll just do a bit more experimentation on how to arrange the straps with it,

I think I'll ask someone taller to do the photos, too - I wonder if DD9 taking them is making my shoulders look bigger than they are - and I'll check on the length too Extabay

Lyn67 - I hear what you are saying I'm not sure I'd want to shorten the neckline, as I think the dress is short enough already.

Beth Ann - it is the front of my house actually (though I too thought it was the patio when we looked at the real estate pictures!)

Helen11 - It isn't Sascha Drake. I actually read your question last night, went to the wardrobe to check AND HAVEN'T FOUND MY PHONE SINCE - thus not answering til now! I think the label was Veronica Bruce - but I can't remember with certainty. I didn't recognize it

I've found my phone again...
And the label is actually Vanessa Bruno (who is apparently a Parisian designer).

Anyway.. I tried the dress on again yesterday and ... the wearing it back to front is just not working in practice. It is uncomfortable on my neck.

Also, another issue is that the armholes are really big, and unless I wrap the straps to the front first, definitely need a cami. But I'm thinking I might just sew them up.
