I'm spilling the beans--- my birthday is tomorrow. My SO works 6 12-hour days straight this week (plus an hour of commuting), every year and then is exhausted for a couple weeks. This year my girlfriends are both out of town on a trip I couldn't go on and my family is in the middle of a workweek and their crazy home repair project.

I never do anything special to celebrate-- it has been this way for years and just isn't a big deal. I usually get about $100 in birthday money and usually use it toward bills or put it in savings. I have a strong savings account already.

This year I've been considering doing a little shopping. Here are the options:

  1. Do a small jewelry refresh and purchase some delicate silver pieces that I could wear in the neckline of t-shirts and some stud earrings to give my stainless steel "diamond" studs I wear everyday a break.
  2. Purchase the fitbit flex for monitoring my heart rate.
  3. Renew my expired passport (no plans to travel).
  4. Go for a pedicure and a massage or hi-lights.
  5. Save the money for shopping later in the season.
  6. Save the money for a day trip later in the month or at the end of October that may or may not happen.
  7. Save the money for a parks-pass (mostly useful if I get the AZ job, the only NP in driving distance in CO I already have free admission to).
  8. Save the money (for the potential move, for car maintenance?)
