Good warm and muggy evening!

I was able to download an app with a timer and take a close-up using my "natural" lamp. A lot of the colour in the body shots is lost, but the colours of the coats in the close-ups are pretty accurate.

The blue is more streamlined and thicker; the honey is slightly thinner, but nips in nicely at the waist.

Tried the silk coat on in-store! So nice an so not appropriate for me...alas.

So, as far these coats are concerned for daily wear, do you prefer the honey, the blue or either? Is either unflattering? I know honey isn't as flattering, but I don't own anything in the beige realm.

Um, these photos are post-nap, bad hair and no-make up...

i love the blue one! I liked the honey one fine in the first pictures, in fact it looks really classic and nice, but when I saw the blue! I really love that one.

I was going to say the same as Jem - love the blue trench. The first one is nice, too, but that blue is incredible.

It's a tough call, but I like the classic look of the first one. I think ultimately I would decide based on how easily the color played with my style/other wardrobe items.

I actually like the fit of the beige one on you, much better. As far as the blue one, the color is amazing on you, but I am not too keen on the fit. Are these the same trench style, just different color?

If I have to choose between the two, I would pick the beige There is also a classic integrity to it. That is something I look for, if I'm making a pricier purchase.

They both fit beautifully. SO hard to pick. The blue one might suit your complexion a little better but the honey one is very classic and it doesn't make you look ill, I think with makeup on and a flattering scarf as you show here it would be totally wearable.

I get the dilemma; blue looks good but the darkness brings a different vibe than the lighter colour.

So was the silk trench the one you first posted about? How was it?

I think I agree with Zapotee and Fruitful. They both look good, but I prefer the honey for longterm.

The fit looks good with what you have on underneath - but what IS that? Could you wear a blazer underneath these and still feel comfortable?

Neither is "unflattering" but I find that the honey washes you out a bit. When I saw you in the blue, my first thought was WOW, now THAT is special looking.

So majority blue, minority beige...but not an overwhelming majority. Thanks for the opinions so far!

@Cocolion: Yes, they are from Burberry. I showed two friends of mine the coats (they didn't know that they were Burberry), and both commented on how well cut they were. As expensive as they are (and they are!!), they really do fit nicely.

@Fruitful: I think there were a few problems with the silk coat in a YMMV kind of way. It went down to my knees, and for my frame, I don't think this is flattering (mid-thigh is more suitable). While silk CAN be quite durable (think parachutes), the material did seem more delicate and I feared getting my ring snagged on the material. I also thought the (blush toned) nude would be flattering, but it as a bit tricky. It's still quite lovely and I'm sad that it didn't work out, but maybe they'll make a wine-coloured version and I'll be in luck.

I think the blue looks better on you, but if you hanker after the beige then you will be able to style it to work.

Oh, FWIW: you know I just got a black trench, right? Nowhere near as good quality as yours of course; mine's a London Fog. And I was worried about black for my complexion. But guess what? I'm really liking it a LOT. I thought it would feel too dark, but it actually feels crisp and...I don't know...fresh, maybe? Also, I wondered how it would play with my uniform of jeans...would it feel too dark for those (esp .since my coat is knee length). But again, it's working out great. I really enjoy wearing it.

I like to be able to layer a jacket or vest under my trench for colder days - usually my leather or denim jacket. Does that help?

I think as a coat qua coat, the blue is better on you. But if I were going to spend ginormous piles of money for a Burberry, I would get the classic trench color rather than an "off" or non-standard color like the blue. (Says the woman who just bought a second-hand red Burberry for $125.) So if you want your coat to stand up and say "Hi! I'm a Burberry!" you should definitely go with the beige. Also if you intend to wear it for 20 years or more you should probably go with the beige, because as we all know, colors can be dated.

I totally get what MK is saying. Beige is "the" classic trench color. But the blue is about 1000% better with your coloring. And you wouldn't *blend* in to the sea of other beige trenches when you wear it. (I tried to sneak a beige safari-style dress past the forum yesterday for the same reason yesterday but I'm glad everyone told me that the color was NOT my best.). Good luck!

Sorry the silk one didn't work out Dissertante - but in a way it's good that you also weren't happy with 3 things, helps to cut down that feeling of wanting to force it to work. The more I look at this the more I'm reinforced to the honey, as MaryK said it says "Burberry" and is classic, plus I think it will look more trans-seasonal. Also like I said, plenty of options to enhance your complexion with colour accents and makeup (I recently posted a WIW where I wore colours that don't suit me but those elements make it work I think).

These are both excellent options - both fit nicely and look good on. I have a slight preference for the blue as the colour is gorgeous but the beige is such a classic. I think it depends on what works better with the rest of your wardrobe and handbags.You can't go wrong either way.

I had to come back to say that Mary K hit the nail on the head. If I was buying a Burberry coat, beige is the color I would get. This is not a beige trench, this is THE BEIGE trench of legend !!!

You could have worn that trench 10, 20 or 30 years ago and will be able to wear it 10, 20 or 30 years from now! The color and style are iconic, therefore timeless..

I'm with fruitful and others, you can always liven up the color with scarves etc. Also, this type of trench is often worn open so the color of your clothing will be seen!

Blue. It's so much more fun than the classic beige Burberry. The fact that this is Burberry is wittily subverted by the blue. Also, the blue looks really great on you, and I think it's at least as versatile.

You see, I tend more towards IK's POV. Unless you need to advertise that you are wearing Burberry. Blue spells confidence. It says: I don't need to PROVE anything. I am wearing what suits ME.

Another vote for the classic honey color. I think it will last forever and that the lighter color shows off the beautiful lines better.

I can see Suz's point quite well. However, I don't think this is about advertising or being flashy or anything like that. Also, I don't think one should need to downplay the fact that the trench is a Burberry, as if one should be ashamed of spending the money, why? I don't think the brand is your main motivation for buying the trench anyhow. If I recall the story correctly, you are buying this as a reward to yourself and to mark a milestone in your life, correct?

Regardless of the motivations, I think this is about wearing something that has remained and will continue to be an iconic piece for years to come.

I do think the honey looks quite nice on her as well. It is not a trade off in the sense that I can see the beauty on both.

You cannot go wrong with either one, really!
